Assuming that we would spend half as much on football vs Bama as we currently do.
Assuming that we self drug test and suspend our players for key games for pedestrian offenses that are not done at the same level as Alabama.

Assuming we internally investigate, self report and self confess ncaa offenses.

Slightly more than Richt. Not nearly what he's been able to do at Bama

My bad... Compared to his run at Alabama.

Are you serious? Saban is the best in the business. He's the best recruiter and motivator in the game. He's a great teacher, he employs great coaches.

You would have much more success.

Compared to the run at Alabama, probably not due to sheer probabability. Since '08 he's only failed to reach a bcs game once. That would be hard to replicate anywhere, even again at alabama.

The same if not more. He would run the east every season. The only thing holding him back from more championships has been the success of LSU and Auburn in that division.

I took it as less of a Richt thread and more of a UGA admin thread with the premise being that our issues are higher than Richt and that simply plugging in a 'better coach' wouldn't really result in a significant change.

Not questioning his coaching ability at all but Alabama's commitment to winning and providing what Saban needs to succeed at the level he does can't be emphasized enough. That doesn't take away from what Saban does, just indicates why I don't think Saban would do the same thing at UGA that he has at Bama.

It's like the ghosts of Rockne, Leahy, Bryant, Hayes, and for good measure Gen. Patton have reincarnated themselves in his little tiny body powered by black coffee and Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pies

We have to assume that he would be under the same $ restraints in total Coach salaries, recruiting budget, and AD overseen discipline standards.

He would have more success than Richt but not close to what he's done at Bama.

I didn't realize we were taking that into account when I initially posted.

I still say he does better than Richt and has at least a few SEC Banners and one natty for sure.

Does anyone feel he would have the same or more success?

I don't think he'd have squibbed it Saturday. I don't think he'd have run off tackle in 01 Auburn. I don't think he'd refuse to feed a Heisman potential back at the 4. I don't believe he'd have allowed Willie Martinez on his practice field. I don't believe he'd punt the ball on 4th down with 1:30 left in the ballgame if he were trailing . So....yes, he would be better.

This has to be one of the worst threads lately.

Would he attempt a long FG with no plan to counter a return if the fg was short in one of the biggest games his team plays?
Would he give up a 24-0 lead against his biggest rival in a game with NC implications?
