What's the Ceiling for this Georgia Defense?

This was the first game. A lot of new faces. Guessing player evaluation is still going on...
There were plays in the first half were were disconcerting. But there were flashes of brilliance in that second half.
Anyways...how good is our defense realistically? Too early to tell? Can this secondary be shut down?

We won't hold ANYONE else to 15 yards in any half the rest of the year.....so, I'd say we are at the ceiling as of now.......

Probably won't hold anybody else to 15 yards in a half, but definitely not close to the ceiling in terms of consistency. There will be growing pains in the secondary, but they will continue to gain confidence and learn their roles.
There isn't a team in the country that has pass rushers like we do, so that's something. Floyd was unreal on Saturday, and Jenkins was actually very good too. He was whipping his guy more often then not, but Floyd was just beating his guy worse and beating Jenkins to the QB.
Herrera was good. Really all the ILBs showed they can play at a high level. DL was also solid.
The secondary will take its lumps along the way, but there's a lot to like. Damian Swann played more physical than he ever has, and his leadership was evident. He never showed any frustration with the young guys in the first half and trusted them throughout the game. That's a very positive sign. Corey Moore played like he was supposed to as a highly rated HS player. Sanders and Davis showed flashes. They weren't perfect, but they aren't going to be for awhile. Good news is they're athletic enough to get the job done. We don't have a talent level issue in the secondary like USCe does.
So the ceiling is high, but process of reaching it may have some bumps along the way.

To say this D hit the ceiling in the 1st game of the season which is also CJP's 1st game is our crazy talk. Ceiling for this D is top 5 defensive nationally. And I think we'll get there or be very close.

I don't expect the defense to hold teams to 15 yards in a half, but I certainly hope we don't give up 250+ yards of offense in a half, either.
Regardless of a new look to Clemson's offense, we held a pretty good team to under 300 yards of offense in Pruitt's first game.
I just hope this game is enough to build on. With all the new guys, you have to believe they will get a little better.

It's hard to say without knowing how good Clemson is. If Clemson finishes 10-2 losing only to FSU, then I think our defense will be much better than I thought it could be. We lost some highly recruited players out of our Secondary and my gut feel is Pruitt doesn't yet have all the players he needs to build a championship level defense. As for the ceiling on the current unit, I don't see how they could play much better than than did in the 2nd half vs Clemson. Well done Coach Pruitt!!

Here's what we accomplished on Sat. night...
Clemson scored their last points of the game at the 7:28 mark of the 2nd qtr. & UGA proceeded to score the next 31 points in a row...
After Clemson missed a FG at the 4:28 mark of the 2nd qtr. they never advanced past their own 31yd line for the next 34:28 of the game...
