I haven't watched much of their 2023 games, but my first impression of the the Clemson spring game was that it was a relatively hard hitting scrimmage.

For fun I make a spreadsheet for Georgia football roster every year and made one for Clemson recently, still a work in progress. It's obviously not game analysis, but I like to get a feel for how talented and experienced the other teams may be, at least as judged by recruiting service scores and time in the system (a proxy for experience). Clemson's offense has been substandard the last couple of seasons, but they have a lot of talent, at least on paper. We'll se if Klubnik takes a step forward in his second season as a starter.

I know the consensus is that their OL play has been trending down, but I think it's possible they put a significantly better product on the field in Matt Luke's 2nd season. They appear to return every starter from 2023 except the center. Here are some numbers for comparison of their projected starting 5 OL vs ours (all are averages). The Yrs exp. is how many complete seasons they've been in the program, not starting experience (for example, True Freshman = 0 seasons completed).

Projected Starting 5
Team-----------247 comp----Yrs exp.----Wt.----Ht(in)
Clemson-------0.9531----------2.8--------314----78
UGA------------0.9468----------3.4--------318----77

Entire OL room (I believe both teams have 16 OL on scholarship)
Team-----------247 comp----Yrs exp.----Wt.----Ht(in)
Clemson-------0.9141----------1.94--------310----77
UGA------------0.9327----------1.50--------322----78

I'm not saying that Clempson's OL will be better than UGA's OL, but I do think they may be good. As an aside, the numbers for Texas' starting OL are very similar to Clemson's and Georgia's, although Texas' starters average 331 pounds if the numbers are accurate.

Didnt know height and weight for an offensive lineman were the measure of if they were good or not.

Would you like to point out the part where I said they were?

Clemson sucks. We will dominate them on both lines of scrimmage. This is not 2021 Clemson. This is not participating in NIL, transfer portal for two years Clemson.

Just pointing out that they have some returning experience on the OL and presumably good talent roster wide unless the recruiting services whiffed on their evals, which is possible.

I generally don't consider outcomes against teams with top 10 talent a foregone conclusion (especially in week one) and I believe Clemson is still around that range. Giving other teams the benefit of the doubt suits me because being uncertain before hand doesn't make the victories any less enjoyable.

I don't understand the response. Ok, you agree? Sarcastic Ok because I said something you found irritating? Is it considered bad form to explain in normal language why I'm not sure we'll destroy Clemson?

Anyway, I do think we're likely to win the game. As you pointed out, Swinney is hurting his team by not using the portal and their depth is not good in some spots.

Based on your data for both OL’s GA’s is superior

They have 12 more pounds on average, taller and ^ composite.

The battle isn’t OL vs OL. It’s OL vs DL

And when you put those stats up regarding production and tenure, it’s not close.

Clemson OL Composite 91 vs GA’s DL 95

That is a big gap in talent

I said in my earlier post that I'm not saying Clemson's OL is better than UGA's. I don't think they are but I'm not convinced that we'll dominate that side of the ball. You said their OL depth was comforting and I agree they may have a potential problem there, especially as the season progresses. One of their probable starters was out for spring, so we'll see how that turns out. But if their projected starters are healthy in early September, it could be a worthy opponent for our DL.

I compared their OL to ours to demonstrate that they aren't necessarily a pushover. Their projected starting OL 247 composite is over 0.9500 on average, which is approximately the cutoff score for top 100 recruits. It's not a foolproof metric, but they have some talent. They have experience. I really like Georgia's DL, but if those guys are healthy, it could be a competitive LOS battle, IMO. If our defense dominates them anything close to 2021, it bodes well for the season IMO.

Will the defense be able to increase the havoc/sack rate?

Offense seems loaded, but the defense had the 57th best sack rate last year, and has to be improved, IMO.
