No. They shouldn’t. I am just saying I have never been high on the kid and that I will be surprised if he is ever the guy at a power 5 school or the NFL based on what I have seen of him. I don’t say it with any malice. I just haven’t seen anything that tells me he’s a can’t miss prospect. He’s obviously a good kid and a local product, but that doesn’t mean he’s a world beater.

I get Stockton is good, but why does nobody talk about BVG? Is it cuz Stockton is the new shiny thing? Both are ballers.

I mean... you watched him in high school.
And we all saw about 10 snaps as a redshirt freshmen handing the ball off.

We know who he is. Right?
Might as well cut him. He isn't p5 material.

Honestly, Stockton's scout team work was better than Vandagriff (bvg is Brian van gorder. I mean... those initials actually check out.)

Vandagriff has too much talent and his ceiling is too high to make an offensive judgment off of that though. We don't need someone to run scout team. We need someone who can run our offense with checks, reads, and execution.

Stockton has earned every bit of praise that he has received. He just needs to flip that over to our offense. And right now, Vandagriff has a year edge on him.

Didn’t say any of that. You are purposely carrying what I am saying to hyperbole, but that’s who you are. If you take up an opposing position on a subject you use low-key condescension and carry a persons opinion to an extreme end. It is only my opinion, and if I turn out to be wrong about the kid, I’ll happily come back and say I was wrong.

It’s just a little weird that you choose my post to play your game with when a majority of this board seems to think Stockton should jump BOTH Brock and Beck. I don’t think that at all. How about if I say that he has all the physical tools but appears to be lacking the “intangibles” that are always mentioned when talking about the truly great QB’s. All-world talents should never look lost. And he has looked lost and out of his depth every time I have personally seen him. Is that a small sample size? Certainly. Do I have every opportunity to look foolish if the kid proves me wrong? Again, yes. Will you come back and apologize for being a condescending prick if the kid transfers and is never heard from again? Almost certainly you will not.

I'm being sarcastic.

We just have a difference of process.
I don't judge any recruit before 3 years.

There is a reason for the labels "underclassman" and "upperclassman".

A lot of players get thrown under the bus for their play as underclassmen and they develop into legitimate DGDs.

If you have an urgency to label a kid after 15 handoffs, more power to you. I'm sure you are proud of your opinion. And I'm sure you will proudly and loudly eat crow if your assessment is wrong.
I don't have any issue humbling myself with my incorrect takes. I remember all 5 of them.

Cheers

Fair enough. I think that the kid is already a DGD for at least hanging around for the competition in the spring of his 3rd year. I do suspect he comes out of spring 3rd string and transfers before the season. I get it. He wants to play, and I may have been a little too harsh saying G5 or FCS, I just don’t see the next Tom Brady or even the next Steve Young when I watch him.

I’m not hasty to label him. I have just never gotten the love for him based on his level of competition in HS, how bad he looked when they took a slight bump up in comp against Rabun Co. and the small sample size we have seen in college. He may very well be a superstar at some point. I just have never seen the “it” factor when watching him. I see him “thinking” rather than “computing” if that makes any sense.

For the record, I don’t necessarily see it in Beck either, I just like the kid and think he is currently the most ready to take over. I don’t dislike Brock, I just get a serious RSIV (who was also a DGD) vibe from him. Super hyped coming in but hype and reality just never matched up.

Thanks for the debate. I do agree with your takes of the time believe it or not and when it’s not pointed at me I generally laugh when you are being a low-key a-hole. My hypocrisy is on full display.

I don’t know why we do this to ourselves. Beck was the go to for backup all of 2022 and has been in the system for 3 years. Yet I’m reading Stockton is special, the real deal, going to start, etc. despite any live snaps to base this on.

I hope the kid turns out to be all world but don’t get the obsession.

If somebody calls him a generational talent I’m going to throw up.

I think Gunner looks like a dumbass so he couldn't be the guy. Stockton's hair is too long. That leaves Beck. He's the one.

This is what actually worries me, another iteration of Chaney which is not bad per se but just doesn't cut it for this program.

You men are worried about nothing. Kirby told Bobo if he could score 20 points a game that they could win 10 games.

So lighten up hell I could be OC and Georgia would score 20 points a game.

Beck is an odd duck. Hes got the weagar dna of a J Park, but has the standard issue country club board member name that is required of most UGA QBs. Mix all that with Florida cheddar cheese genetics, elaborate JT Daniels try hard tats, and the howdy doody-ness of a Greg McElroy and there stands Beck. Ive never heard him speak either, but im worried he may have mike tyson helium voice.

None of that has anything to do with being a a good QB, i guess, but he doesn’t seem to have that natural assertiveness and confidence that someone like a Fromm or a Stet brought in spades on day 1. He always looks nervous instead.

I have no idea what will happen, but going by gut, I dont seem him as the guy next year. Maybe he starts the first game or two, but I think someone else steals the job eventually

It was pre-Monken that we did away with FB. It was Kirby not wanting to take up a scholarship.

Believe it or not, Greyson Lambert still has several months left in his term as QBCC board chairman. Bryce Ramsey is the expected heir, of course. And young Carson Beck seems a lock for Treasurer. Although, i did find myself at brunch last sunday in a spirited debate with a few members who were fresh off the croquet court debating whether Tucker Carlson may give him a run. Oh the chortles we had on the veranda!
