Went from a shutdown corner for us to being 115th of 116 corners in rating in the NFL.
quote:

Baker admits that nine games into his rookie season, he still doesn’t understand the Giants’ scheme. “Just the plays and everything like that,” Baker said was what he needed to improve the most. “The playbook. Just knowing the plays. Knowing what I need to do. Knowing my assignment." Baker has started every game this season. It is troubling that he still doesn’t know the defense. On Cooper’s late touchdown, the ESPN broadcast pointed out that Baker was playing zone defense while the rest of the defense was in man-to-man coverage, which allowed the Cowboys wide receiver to break free.

You cant play fast and react like you need to if you dont known the playbook and are thinking too much. My guess would be if he puts in the effort this offseason to know the D inside and out his play will dramatically improve next yr.

Sounds like he just needs some time before we start judging his NFL career.

I'm sure he'll figure it out.

They’ve put Baker in zone way too much this year.

He’s a very good press man to man corner, and for some reason the Giants have not used him that way. If you’re going to spend a 1st round pick on him, play to his strengths.

How many rookie CBs thrown into the fire have done well? The NFL game is no joke, especially from a speed standpoint.
And when you're playing in quick sand in your head because you don't have a full grasp on what you're doing, it's going to be hard to execute and execute at a top level.

Should he not make an marked improvement next year, then people will start to worry about him. But right now, he's just being hazed by the league.

Concerning but just goes to show how freakin competitive the NFL is. All-American, All conference guys routinely end up as scrubs at the next level.

Maybe he needed some more big game experience before he got to the NFL?
