Demeaning internet posts and memes can come from fans of other schools or fans of the home team. Motives are often uncertain. It's a mistake to take anonymous online criticism personally. Maybe Stetson did experience a lot of negative comments on campus but I doubt it.

Absolutely true. So, with it being a team, why did Bennett get singled out for all of our problems. I did not see one thread complaining about our defense, RBs,WRs etc after the SECCG. I saw multiples after several games about Bennett.

The difference is that Stetson's bosses and co-workers were fine with him. The people that saw him working hard every day all though he was great. It was the people that did not see him and did not know what was going on that gave him crap. In short, people that had no idea what they were talking about. Why in the world would he want to stay and endure that? Have you ever been criticized on a daily basis? It wears on you.

Having been on this site for years and the old Rant before that, why do I not remember a player or his parents EVER whining about fan comments on message boards or social media? I can remember endless tirades and debate about every QB at various times. I can remember endless tirades and debates about coaches as well. Typical sports board stuff, including many comments that people probably would only make on a board. Am I delusional? Did that not happen? If so, why does Bennett seem to be the first player in my memory who is actually reading and reacting to that sort of thing?
Bennet kept saying that he pays no attention to what people say but yet these articles make it seem like he (and his dad) pay excessive attention. Am I missing something or were people literally contacting him directly, sending him messages and such?
If this guy is so sensitive, it's good he isn't going to the NFL because their fans can be extremely nasty.

Heck, I don't know what I am saying.
I'm definitely against belittling players. But I don't dig the whole "us" vs "them" thing that we got going on either. People are going to say things in the game thread in the heat of the moment. I took somewhat of a sabbatical from this place but I'm sure I've said things in the heat of a game that was probably awful. We are National Champs. We should be celebrating here, not this divisiveness.

Is your face value argument that Bennett had a better game than Young - therefore - Bennett is a better QB than Young (or at least equal to him)? Yet we all know, unless truly delusional, that's not the case. And the evidence is: A Heisman...assessment of the NFL...the fact that Young is doing all this as a sophomore, etc.
