Sort of OT question - since Pickens traveled to the Auburn game but didn't dress out, did he count for the travel roster limit, or would he not be counted because he didn't dress/couldn't play?

JTD has been money on any 3rd down. Stetson is much better at on 3 and 7+ than 3rd and short, but to be fair he's run for several 1st downs on 3rd and short.

That's a good question. I saw someone ask that on another board but I can't remember what the answer is.

Bennett has a much bigger body of work and more wins against ranked teams. Also, when we have been up big, our play calls grow more safe.

Stet has 20 passes on 3rd down vs 18 attempts for JTD.

Edit: are we just throwing out last years stats when talking about bodies of work?

Stet is 46 of 61 for 75%
JTD is 39 of 53 for 74%

Neither one is outstandingly better on 1st and second down.

Depends what stat you are looking at.

JT has had 20 3rd down attempts, with 2 TD's.

Stet has had 18 3rd down attempts, with 4 TD's.

Also consider the fact Stet has had 4x the game time as JT, but less 3rd down attempts. Reading between the lines, looks like Stet is a hell of alot better on 1st and 2nd. Hardly ever finds himself in a 3rd down passing situation.

And after review of the above stats, it is confirmed, stet's passer rating on 1st and 2nd down blow JT's out of the water.

About three farts on the board have a Stetson fetish. Almost every thread is turned into this topic...

Meanwhile, the fan base at large knows that Smart has NEVER wanted Stetson to be a full-time starter, has continually recruited and sought transfers over him, and has utilized him for what he is: the career back-up.

The great thing is that once this guy finally leaves to sell insurance or open a restaurant, there are no quarterbacks on UGA's roster or in our recruiting pipeline who are not in the ballpark of NFL size and strength measurables.

If you dont convert on 3rd down, you will also find yourself with fewer 3rd down opportunities in a game

I asked earlier... is this a thread to cherry pick stats?

Im just picking on deeprig.

Stetson has better P5 stats (JT played clemson).
JT has better SEC stats (stetson played at auburn and kentucky).

Cherry picking without context is pointless (is my point)

My stat picking is in response to others stat picking. Until the las week I hadnt even looked at the stats. Then the JT Nation started throwing out all sorts of accusations and referencin stats, so I took a look for myself

You mean the vaunted Clemson Defense that offensive powerhouses like GA Tech, NC State, Syracuse, and BC that all managed to score TDs on. Unlike us.

Question for the Field-

If JT is still on the sideline vs Florida, and Stetson balls out in a big win, do people start to drop this "JT is the Starter" narrative?

And if not, when?

When does the JT Nation decide to drop the "We're saving him for TeamXYZ" narrative?

Again, depends what stat you are looking at. May I add, the stat you posted has them both about even, which is pretty damning to the argument that JT is the "clear" starter or "better" player.

But let's dive deeper into 1st and 2nd down.

JT passer rating on 1st down - 168
Stet rating on 1st down - 239
JT passer rating on 2nd down - 130
Stet rating on 2nd down - 232
