It sure feels like it's been really long at this point... but pretty sure that's not where you were going with this.

No. He is done. He said that he was done when he left Ohio State. He has chronic problems with his body. He cant go out and recruit and coach.

Has anyone seen a quote from Fox about that final possession? Just wondering.

I've read a couple articles and browsed the beat reporters' Twitters and haven't seen where he was even asked about it.

“I elected not to call a timeout because I felt we could play from the miss and just attack them without them setting their defense,” Fox said. “When we mishandled the ball obviously I can’t call a timeout when the clock is running. In hindsight, if I knew he (Hightower) was going to mishandle it maybe we would have called a timeout. But we thought we could play from a miss and attack the basket.”

If Maten hits his free throws down the stretch we win.

He can't? Can't you call a timeout anytime you're in possession? There was plenty of time to call it between Hightower briefly losing it and Parker jacking up that garbage shot.

It just feels like a microcosm of Fox's career.

"Well, we probably could've done better, but frick it."

Not anymore. Players have to do it during the possession while coaches only can call them during stoppages. That’s why I was very surprised he didn’t call one before Starks’ 1st free throw.

Am I wrong? That's the third game this year he missed key free throws and we lost. Our freshman makes a terrible pass and throws the ball away and the narrative is "we still can't beat the press". Yet our star player chokes and it's the coach's fault. I don't give a frick about Mark Fox. But you cannot have it both ways. When a freshman makes a terrible play its the coaches fault. When the star player chokes, it's the coaches fault. How about you open up your fricking eyes and watch the game? At what point are these college athletes held accountable? Everyone jumped all over Parrish when he got "beat" on the last play in the NCG despite the fact that it was the safety that blew his assignment. Why is no one blaming the loss on the coaches? Because it's fricking stupid to do so, that's why.

People break the press 95% of the time. College basketball players who play the entire second half do not make free throws 95% of the time.

95% percent of statistics are made up on the spot.

Look, Maten is a great Ft shooter, I get that. And I'm not saying he should make them all. But our players failed to execute in multiple facets of the game down then stretch. That is my point. I'm sure Fox wanted to throw up a terrible shot with 3 seconds left on the clock too.

Is Fox a great coach? No.
Is he the answer going forward? No.

But it's annoying that all anyone wants to do is bitch about the coach when players are taking terrible shots, turning the ball over and missing FTs. That's not coaching, thats execution.

I'm not talking about usually. I talking about this scenario. If Maten didn't miss 2 key FTs we win.

I'm not blaming Maten for the loss. I'm just pointing out coaching wasn't the only reason we lost. Resume your coach bashing. We will have a new one soon enough that you all can blame.

When those exact things have been the norm rather than the exception for Fox's entire tenure, then it is coaching. Not that difficult of a concept.

You're right, Fox coaches the players to miss FTs and throw the ball away. That's our problem.
