Of course, you are right, and I get all of that. But when we run around telling everybody stuff before they happen we end up looking like idiots. Why? Because some of our fans think it's cool to be the first to break news, or act like thye know something others don't.
In the world of NIL we now live in, we will continue to have flips at the last minute as we are now in a business world. Money will be offered at the last minute and recruits/players will listen and cange their minds.
The old saying of:
"Better to remain silent, and thought a fool, than to speak up and remove all doubt." applies perfectly to this situation. Just watch and see how these situations play out.

Georgia never offered Josh Downs. If you think people forget these things you are wrong. Stop listening to recruiting websites spinning clicks. He was never coming to UGA.

He’s good and not overrated but we are in great shape with what we have. Starks, Bolden, Aguero will be a dominant group this year. Add in guys like Pope, Dan Jackson, etc. and we have great depth too.

Ohio State is stacked with third and fourth year guys. A few of the fourth year guys are nfl guys. Michigan just won it all with a less talented team.

There is certainly a roster management piece and a NIL $ money management piece that could likely have been at play in this one as well. Downs is likely currently better than anyone currently on roster, though that could change with development snd experience. Do you risk running one or more of them off while having to pay more for Downs? As well as do you send a message that we want to develop you unless someone prettier comes by. A lot of moving parts and speculation. Imagine Kirby has to play a lot of chess with this type stuff. We see it in more of a vacuum. .

Who knows. Doesn’t really matter if it’s true or not. This whole NIL/portal thing is a complete cluster….regardless if it benefits UGA or not, I hate it all
