How about this bread-and-butter play that Chaney has apparently outlawed. give it a damn try and let the running backs get a head of steam for once against a good D line.

I couldn’t agree more. We needed to spread Auburn’s D line and never even tried it.

Its strange because we ran toss sweep a lot last year (usually it would be to the short side of the field though). What blew me away was the lack of RB screens.

Strange thing is that we had a MUCH better game plan last year vs AU and they had arguably a more talented D-line.We threw the ball deep early and often and eventually opened up the running game.Yea,I get the part about not scoring an offense TD.
But we did move the ball and if not for a couple of stupid turnovers and penalties we obviously put more points on the board last year.

I think Chaney became way too overconfident after the 1st drive and had NO plan B

We'd need some dynamic running backs who can make plays in space for that... oh wait.

Sort of my thinking also. Sometimes you stick with what got you there but when your are playing against a tough defense you need a lot more diversity on offense. Regardless, with Auburn loading the LOS to stop our run, we should have been doing something to get the ball outside in space with some blocking.

Sometimes I wonder if Chaney even watched the AU LSU tape. LSU ran a ton of jet sweeps on them when they came back from 20 down

We ran to the perimeter with our quickest back (herrien) and they strung us out.

I know that lsu had some success on the edges. But we faced a different auburn team that was too quick in pursuit and too good at making the tackle with their DBs.

How about just admitting you are an alter troll?

Well Auburn ran the jet sweep with Stove and he got crushed on the first drive. That doesn’t mean it won’t work again. UGA tried Herrien outside once, maybe twice.

UGA could’ve tried crack backs by TE, toss sweeps, RB screens, something to keep Auburn’s D-Line honest. That may have been Chaney’s worst game plan since coming to UGA.

OK. what in the world is an alter troll? I was commenting about an alternate way to attack Auburn's DLine, perhaps having them think twice before bulling straight ahead every single snap.

you probably are an alter...but what you say about the toss sweep is true...we are way too talented at RB to go out like that...too much speed...Fire Jim Chaney!!

It's hard to second-guess coaches in real time. But very easy after the fact. My main gripe is that earlier in the year the offense was far more dynamic in the playcalling against weak opponents. Then, when our slow-developing option runs up the gut keep getting stuffed against Auburn, we get cold feet and keep trying. WAAYYYY too much talent at the UGA skill positions to get boxed-in on the playcalling like that. It is a legitimate gripe. As for the "alter" tag, I am just a long-time UGA fan, graduate, and season ticket holder that has recently started posting rather than simply reading about GA football. People on this board that want to complain about new posters are just a little ridiculous. Dawgs are still in a good position, and can learn from the loss.

I agree. Would be better if they had a different OC...haven't liked that hire since day 1...Kirby could have gotten somebody better.

If Clemson can have a brain fart against fricking Syracuse and still have a shot...so should we when losing to #10.

We will fall to at least 7 because of this though. Probably further.....we don't have "the brand".

I think we have the brand and I think we get in the CFP if we win out. However, the defensive game plan and adjustments were lacking as well. The good news is we had our only let down of the season had we played like this against SC, we wouldn’t have the SECCG to look forward to.

Actually, we do have a brand: as choke artists in high-profile games. It will take a while to overcome that, but eventually we will.
