Only nit I'd pick is I wish we would have gotten to Bo a couple of times.
My only concern as well. Could be a couple of resonas for that:
1. Our pass rush will take a big step back this year
2. We employed a more under control pass rush designed to keep Nix in the pocket while still putting pressure on hims. Take away his ability to improvise.
I hope it is @2. We'll know more in the coming weeks.

Good points.
I think I'll also throw some shade at KM2. I know he was banged up, but he got tackled in open space twice near the goal line. according to some he was gonna break out this year, but he's gonna have to finish those runs to be the man.

This is what it was. Our goal was to hold the line of scrimmage and keep Bo in front of us, not overpursue. I suspect we will see more disruption at the point of attack in our next few games

I’m a little surprised we never heard Carter, Williams, Stackhouse, or Logue’s names called and most stops happened in the second layer.
Somehow Norton and Ingram-Dawkins had more plays in the back-field than those 4 combined.
Carter is predicted to go #2 in the draft? He needs to step it up hugely for that to happen.

I mean it's a very slight difference but it's Edwards>Milton for me. I trust DE to convert that 4th and 1 more.
The Oregon o line has been ranked top 5 in some publications. I'd give them some credit for keeping defenders at bay.
I will contend a young edge rushers will be needed this season. One of MJJ, Madden, Darris Smith will have to step up.

Nice to see Stetson getting the praise he deserves from the media yesterday finally. And from more of the fans.
Never forget that we scored zero offensive touchdowns in out opener last season compared to 7 last night
And if these numbers continue, there’s no way Stet isn’t in New York at the end of the year at the Heisman ceremony. Just think of that for a minute. Let that wash over you. Let that sink in.
It’s too perfect.

The offense had to become dominant, and it looks like it has. Pleasantly surprised by the secondary. I think Smael Mondon is the most important player on the team this year. If he improves every week and starts to get more involved in each play like Nakobe or Roquan, this team will be there at the end. That ILB position is so critical in this defense. If he starts to lock down the middle, the front should be able to get more pressure. Damn it’s good to be a dawg these days.

I will watch the replay sometime this week, but a name I didn’t hear was Dom Blaylock.. I figured he would’ve been in the plan a little more.

1. Stet's a stud and should be in the Heisman running.
2. McConkey's a stud and proves that you can't measure
heart and grit with stars.
3. Starks is going to be a beast and our secondary can
be nasty.
4. Mac and Milton are gonna have fun this season.
Playbook must be pretty thick.
5. Our o-line, if they stay healthy, is gonna be one of
the best in CFB.
6. Our defense can be as effective as last years.
6. The Bo Nix P5 experiment is over.
7. Nolan Smith is a born leader.
8. I like this team chemistry.

It might, but Nix was getting rid of the ball fairly quickly, at least for him. I think that was part of Lanning's plan.

Carter was rag dolling linemen throughout the game. Again, approach wasn’t to get to Nix but to apply pressure to force errant throws. Nix is only dangerous when you try to play tag with him in the backfield. So, DL didn’t get a ton of stats because their job was to force Nix to throw early or check down to the perimeter for LBs and DBs to clean up.
By 4th qtr, Nix was just trying to get through it and the Oregon OL was pudding

I think that's fair, but the dline didnt look great against the run either. They were moving the ball running it early on before Bo went into Bo mode.
I understand the strategy for Bo, but I don't think that excuses the run defense. not trying to shite on them. It's early and they will get better

Run defense had some hits and some misses. We got into the backfield and stopped them for a loss or for no gain on a few different occasions I can recall off the top of my head. We also have up a few gashers for 8-12 yards.
Life after Jordan Davis and Devonta Wyatt means rotational guys having to learn their roles as starters and they will but it’ll take some time. Too, Oregon OL is by no means an average unit and was going to create some lanes here and there.
All in all, I’m not worried about the DL right now. I think they did what was expected did them given their talent and relative experience (or lack thereof)

I thought we sat in base defense alot and played bend dont break. I think when we crank up the exotic stuff we can shut a run gamendown.

My favorite play was when 29 showed cover 2 and baited them to throw the seem route and totally jumped it. When that happened, it seemed like it took most of Oregon’s confidence. Not sure if it was called as a robber type play or he just read it. Very similar to what Bama did to us in the SEC Champ game.

Maybe it's just me, but it seemed like Jalen Carter wasn't right. He seemed to take plays off and not pursue the ball. I really thought he'd be a big factor in the game and make a big statement.
Offense is going to be fun to watch. Stetson made some very smart decisions by throwing the ball away instead of forcing a throw. I also like watching Edwards run the ball.
Darnell is a big son of a gun. I would hate to be staring at him when he's running straight at you.
That young defense is going to be fun to watch. I thought the secondary played pretty darn good. Starks will be a first rounder if he stays healthy and keeps working.
Dan Lanning did a great job for a 36 year old that just took over a major program.
Bo Nix...well he's still Bo Nix....and he ain't beating GEORGIA.

I disagree. We seemed a half step slower. But that half step was film and game preparation. Not effort or ability.
This is a brand new offense with brand new personnel (I think I heard over 15 transfers onto the team?).
Smael was slow getting to the perimeter to stop first down runs. Everything I have read indicates that he is faster than all 3 ILBs from a season ago. But we didn't have any tendencies to use in prep.
As we have more film on opponents, we will see better "gamespeed" from our front 7.

No fear of an offensive shootout this year. We’ve got a running back going for 117 yards in the air? Wtf.
Wide receiver with a rushing touchdown. Stetson looked like a world beater yesterday. Darnell throwing a tackler to the ground and then hurdling another one on a 40 yard rumble. I don’t think we even really opened the play book.

D line was containing and pushing pocket. That disrupts the passing lanes snd keeps QB from scrambling. We also had spies or whatever they call them taking away QB run and those short crossing routes they did well on at first.

We were extremely prepared for oregons offense.
