Do you use them? Why or why not?

I've never given them much of a second thought and I'll pretty much always take one at Sanford if offered one by the guy inside the gate, but won't go out of my way to get one.

I do know there are people who find them to be silly (which, let's be honost, they are) and make fun of us shaker/streamer/pom-pom-waving fools. Personally, I find these people to be comparable to the fake macho types who taunt straw-users at restaurants, but that's just one man's opinion.

They are, like many aspects of the game day experience, something ridiculous that if you took out of the context of a stadium would look flat-out stupid. That said, I do occasionally use them.

Thoughts?

I think they are cool when used by everyone in the lower bowl. Most games the only area to be noticeably seen waving them is the student section.

Why have them for just those small areas?

I agree with this completely.

Also agree. Hold at eye level and shake forward, not up.

From middle school through college I used one, then kind of "grew out of it" so to speak.

I do like that they are prevalent in the student section, and agree it looks great when most of the lower bowl has them. The 2013 lsu game was a "red out" where they gave them to the entire bowl rather than just students and it looked awesome. Wish we would do that for all home games.

Cart before the horse. Let's get folks in the game before flippin half time, then we'll worry about accessories.

They are in the lower bowl every game I go to. I have kids, so they enjoy grabbing them off the hedges before every game.

Kind of off-topic:

What are your thoughts on professional jerseys with names on the back?

I am surprised by how many people are appalled by fans wearing jerseys. And appalled by how many people mock those with names on the back. Seems like a stupid thing to get worked up about to me.

Whose name, the player or the name of the fan wearing it?

This is typically a hot button issue, I personally am not a fan of jerseys for anyone over high school age. It just seems too childish, like playing dress up almost. Hey look at me everyone, I'm Tom Brady! No, you're not.

I'm opposed to wearing another man's work uniform, especially with their name on it. I don't go to the doctor's office wearing a lab coat or to the mechanic wearing a short-sleeved blue button up.

We also don't go into those places to scream, and cheer for those people to do their jobs.

I see jerseys as just a way of supporting your favorite player. I don't personally like the feel of wearing them, but I don't care if someone likes to support their team by wearing one.

That's where I fall.

But as was said, this is a hot button issue for folks.

I used to go to a ton of hockey games. The thrashers had a new team captain every year. Lots of fans has jerseys with nicknames on the back. I thought that was smart because the team captain changed every season for 8 years straight. But some people feel like fans wearing a jersey is playing dressup. Or that wearing a band tshirt at that bands concert is such a big deal. These are like the idiotic unspoken rules of baseball to me. Worry about yourself.

I'll support any hooligan that decides to make and wear this to a game this year.

I'm pretty meh on the pom-poms but, yeah, keep'em out of my face.

Jerseys? I'm not wearing one. You feel free to but, I'm going to silently judge you.

I don't mind secretly judging. I do that with jorts and flip flops. But I'm not going to go into a 30 minute rant like John kincade either. Guys who focus on what other guys wear are closet queers, imo. It is such a girl thing to do (sorry to the ladies on the board).

I won't pay hundreds of dollars for a number/name jersey. $25 for a team T-shirt is ok.

I'm firmly planted as pro pom-pom. I always take them to away games. Opposing teams really loathe the red pom-poms. We traveled a lot last season and I think UK fans seemed to hate them the most. I thought it was a great contrast to the sea of blue.

Jerseys? I'm Switzerland on the matter. Wear whatever you want, as long as it represents the red and black. I'm fine as long as we don't get to the stage where this poor guy is.
