No more 3:30 CBS games that start in daylight and end in darkness. No more perfect football weather games between us. No more SEC clinching moments...

Gonna be weird. Enjoy this one.

Man...what a bummer. This game is meant to be played in cool, brisk weather. It simply won’t be the same playing this game earlier in the season.

We have our spineless leader to thank for that. My only slight glimmer of hope is that after the current round of SEC schedules expires after the 2024 season, the SEC will give us a break (lol) and set things right.

This topic has been discussed a bunch so I'll try not to go on a rant here but the biggest head scratcher to me (among several of them) is how this fixed the problem AU even had? Their biggest complaint was having UGA and UA on the same rotation so that every other year both would be on the road. Simply moving our game up in the schedule doesn't even fix that problem.

But I agree with OP, it's truly a shame. Since the 1800s this game has been played in roughly mid/late November every year with the only excpetions being the 1st matchup (February) and the SECCG in December. In addition to this being utterly shitty, we also get the added bonus of freezing our friggin arse off in knoxville in November every other year now. Joy.

Another southern tradition to the wayside.

Let's hope this schedule change will stop
this bye week trend for our opponents.
We've faced 5 SEC opponents coming off bye
weeks 2 years in row... complete garbage.
Its already played a part in 1 loss this year let's hope it's not a factor tomorrow.

Mcgarity should be raising hell with the scheduling office but he's obviously too much of weenie to even try.

Auburn complained to the SEC bc they didn’t like facing GA-creampuff-Bama (alternating home-home/away-away) at the end of their season. They ruined the tradition. Pussies.

In 2020, AU gets to finish their season creampuff-LSU-@Bama. Lol. Idiots.

We swapped Tenn for AU, which means the WLOCP’s payoff is diminished with backloaded East opponents. I liked having the GA-FLLLorida game as impactful on the East as possible. Just to crush UF’s dreams right there in JAX to their faces.

frick Auburn.

frick those malcontents. DSOR and IB have been in November FOREVER.

If they want to make it right, they should do 2 games back to back in Athens to fix the schedule from the MiZzzou Fighting Carpetbaggers invading our league.

that easily makes the most sense, but couldn't be done until 2025 at the earliest. Which is why it's so puzzling to me this move was made as it doesn't really fix anything. It shifts the argument from "we don't want to play @uga and @bama in the same year every other year" to "we don't want to play our 2 hardest games so close together". At the VERY LEAST the silver lining is that the SEC fricked them over by replacing us wiht LSU.

I guess the silver lining is we get to crush Auburns dreams early in the year so they can suffer longer.

Agreed. I read somewhere that of the last 10 years or so, AUB's only chances to win the IB is in the same year where they win the DSOR. If they win one, they win the other.

Auburn is getting what they deserve out of this. Instead of playing UGA, a creampuff, and Alabama every year, they will now play LSU and then Alabama back-to-back with no creampuff cushion in between.

I could be wrong but I think 2020 is the only time that's set in stone. In 2021 and onward I don't think it's been announced specifically what will be in tht place.

The only bye team we faced in 2018 was Florida. This year is definitely a bad deal though and should not have been agreed to by McGarity.

6 conference teams had an off week before facing us (vandy was the first game of the season).

6 out of 9 (looking at LSU).

This rivalry has been my favorite game since I was a little boy due in part to the time of the year. Damn shame.

Hope it stays. That would be poetic justice.
