And no one is gonna say that Saban ran off the best NFL QB he recruited?
In a vacuum, Tua is the better QB. Jalen is in the best situation. I’d take either of them, though.

Right?!? And him benching Hurts for Tua is why he is the GOAT. Pretty sure Tua got back to the NC the following year they just ran into a really good Clemson team. Pete thinking he knows more than Coach Saban is hilarious

My point was Jalen is a very successful NFL QB and did well when he transferred. Saban ran him off for another QB. Had Smart done this, the cancer dawgs would have been out in force about how Smart can’t manage the QB room. I mean, Tua didn’t win a Natty after his Freshman year. That means Saban made the wrong decision. Right?

Saban gets a lot of credit for benching Hurts for Tua and he should, but it’s not like it was some huge gamble. They were only down 10-0 at halftime, but Hurts could NOT move the ball on us. Saban and everyone else could see that. Hurts wasn’t a good passer at that point and our game plan made his legs a non-factor. Tua was really his only option and it panned out.
Side note: Damn it still pains me to recount this game. Even worse than 2012 SECG

If i remember correctly Hurts stayed for the following year, bc he was put in for Tua when he got injured in the SEC championship game when they came back and beat us.

They were polar opposites, made us game plan for a running back at QB only to stick in one of the best long ball assassins I have ever seen while also being made of glass.

Take it with a grain of salt but Buck Belue stated on 680 the other day that Gunner has full control of the offense during the practices he attended. He also stated that Bobo wouldn’t be returning this year…
I don’t think there has ever been a true QB competition during spring or fall practice, Gunner has been the guy since the Texas game IMO
Yah, I take things that Buck says with a grain of salt. He has to say things to amp up his ratings. He seems less critical of UGA when I've heard him lately and maybe he's trying to act more like homer. But yah, you're right, there isn't a QB battle going on. I'm curious how Puglisi looks. Looking good in practice and real games are 2 different things.

yah, it hurt me worse than 2012 too. At this point, I think UGA went down as the biggest major sports team to endure heart-breaking losses. Maybe you could add FSU and the RedSox, but there was something about the sting of that 2017 loss. That seemed like our year. 2012 we kind of came on hot at the end and we weren't expected to beat Bama(but still sings).

It's how we lost 2017, we were cruising until the refs struck. 2012 seemed more like a hope but I do believe he should have clocked it.

Winning the SEC Championship game don’t mean shite* Smart had one of the best NFL QBs on his roster and he ran him off for a QB that didn’t win shite* because he can’t manage a QB room.
I meant Saban, not Smart.

I do believe he should have clocked it.

You are clearly clueless.

Your whole statement is dumb AF. You said he ran Hurts off. He in fact didn’t bc he stayed the following year.

Except he did run him off, but the rules were different back then. Hurts would’ve had to sit out a year anyway if he transferred, so he stayed at Bama and graduated in December 2018 allowing him to grad transfer and play immediately the following season. The whole transfer anytime and play immediately thing didn’t come around until 2021.

Watching some of the Brooks vids this evening and shocked at how open the field was if Beck would’ve kept the ball and ran. Defenses gave him no respect for running. Just pulling and running will take the DE out of so many plays.
Honestly I don’t know why they didn’t do that last year with Beck to keep the DE honest.

You are correct about the transfer rule, so why didn’t he just leave right after that NC game? He basically sat out that whole year anyways. It’s just hard for me to think he “ran him off” when the guy stayed at the school and graduated.
If that’s the case is it safe to say Kirby ran off our best qb ever to Jones College?

Don’t try and explain it to him/her. They do not understand what is being discussed, nor sarcasm.

lol it’s funny how you are allowed to be sarcastic on here but no one else is…

I’d imagine he stayed because at that point the QB situation at the other schools wasn’t entirely clear yet. Better to transfer when you can step right in and play knowing who else is on the roster. I don’t remember eligibility wise and all but I think Kyler Murray could have stayed another year.
