None in particular. Release just said it was “the right time”. My guess like everything else is rent finally got too high for the location to make sense. Thus disappears another Athens staple downtown to be replaced with a low rate chain that will fail inside of 2 years

Lived in Athens for 8 years. Ate at Taco Stand three times. Never much cared for it. I understand that’s blasphemy and I apologize.

I made sure to eat there for lunch the Friday before ND. Was still a good spot.

Milledge and east side locations will remain open but neither have that time capsule feel of walking into the downtown location on gameday. The thought of anything other than new wave playing over the speakers in that location feels wrong

It’s just never changed. It’s the same place as it was 28 years ago. That’s what I’ve always loved about it

I’ll take the big arse Zenith radio sign. I imagine I’d have to secure it to the foundation of my house to keep it on the wall but it’d be worth it

Further research shows they own the milledge property. The original since 1977. Hopefully that one stays for ever and ever. It was always my favorite anyway.

deeprig correct. Anyone who knows anything knows Milledge T-Stand is the best. Out of towners and frat boys act like the downtown location is nirvana.
