....is where is Evander? You have to think the CKS would take advantage of having the Real Deal in his back pocket. Are we talking pre UNC pep talk? On the sidelines? In the weight room talking about beating Tyson?

This is too good to pass up.

He was at the scrimmage last weekend. He's around the program, you'll see him a lot this fall if his son is as good as they're saying.

He is lobbying to have added protection over the helmet ear holes.

Evander has more money then he knows what to do with. If he really cared about his son, he would've payed for his sons schooling, so we could have another scholarship to give out

His son earned a scholarship through his effort and hardwork. His dad's bank account had nothing to do with it.

I highly doubt that. He's had multiple kids from different baby mommas and divorces. There was a reason he continued to box into his mid 40's and his mansion in Fayetteville was foreclosed on in 2014.I believe Rick Ross bought it.

If we didn't give his kid a scholarship multitude of other programs would have.

Evander's broke. He lost his mansion south of Atlanta, and had to auction off most of his memorabilia in order to pay back taxes.

You might know how to read, but your comprehension needs a bit of work. I never said or implied his dad's bank account had anything to do with him getting a scholarship. What I'm saying, is that wealthy parents of athletes should pay their kids own way to school, freeing up a scholarship so the team can get better.

Turns out he is only worth $1.5M or so. Maybe not enough to pay his kids own way to make the team better. Still surprises me how many wealthy parents don't do it to make the team better.

This. I coached a kids basketball team (Ages 5-6 Y.O) at our church and had one of his kids on the team. (I can't remember the kids name....COULD have been Elijah, the time frame fits, but I honestly don't remember) Momma was there every game, but I never say Evander. All accounts are that he is a very nice person, but he apparently keeps a fairly low profile.

I see what you are saying but that's like saying why does Lebron make $30MM a year when he could take the league minimum and make his team better. A lot of the time its because they can and because they deserve/earned it

MOST students parents at UGA are not worth that kind of money.

That said...you don't become wealthy by giving money away. If the kid gets a scholarship, you take it.

And maybe the school thinks it can hit up the parents for a big contribution down the road.

Hell,we used up a scholarship on Leebern's son in the 80's.

Snoop Dog's son got a scholarship to UCLA and Denzel's son received a scholarship to play at Morehouse.

Some athletes take pay cuts or adjust their contract to make their team better.....

That's plenty to pay Elijah's tuition. Tuition in state is under $10k per semester. Probably closer to $7k.

But if his son earned the scholarship, why take that from him? It's a HUGE point of pride to be on a full scholarship.

Because scholarship athletes live a completely different lifestyle than walk-ons.
