I like Booger too but he can be way off about QBs. After the 2016 G Day game Booger came on Finebaum and said, " I've just seen Tiger Woods." Booger was referring to Jacob Eason. The performance fooled me too. I thought Eason could be a champion.

I talked to a friend who mine who is an NFL agent before the draft. He told me Stetson would probably go 4th round and he did. Aaron Murray went in the 5th round. I had high hopes for Murray but he didn't quite have the raw talent for the NFL. Stetson has a lot more game speed and his pocket presence should help him. Right now he's #2 on the LA Rams depth chart and would be surprised if the Rams don't bring in a guy with experience. It's hard to predict how qb's will do. You have guys like Danny Wuerrfel, Tebow, Jason White, Ryan Leaf, and Gino Torreta who were stellar in college and never did anything in the NFL.

I think the point is, the Braintrust scolded Kirby for not having an elite QB on the roster, when it turns out we did. We were also told by the Braintrust that Bennet was a game manager and would not sniff the NFL. I’m not sure how his career will play out, but it is safe to say they were very very fricking wrong. Not only. Were they wrong, they were condescending pricks about it and so shitty about it on social media, that it was a recognized thing that Stet is still asked about. On this site, some admitted they were wrong, some pretend they didn’t say it and a number vanished.
I hope the best for Stet and any Dawg in the NFL and feel like he has a future as a player and coach. Perhaps his ceiling as a coach may be even higher, but he has proven to prove even the most optimistic of us wrong. He has 2 Natties and should be respected as such by all Dawgs. We are in great times.

There was a great meme I saw over the weekend of all of the things "They" said Bennett would never be able to do.
Naturally, he did them anyway.
All that's left is for him to be successful in the NFL. Haters are welcome to doubt him at their own peril.

It's always amazed me how Dawgs fans think it's some sort of manifest destiny that the Falcons should take Georgia players just b/c they are the local team or they'll cheer for the team w/the most Dawgs.
It's arrogance.

The last season that Stetson Bennett wasn’t playing college football….
-Barry Soetero was President of the United States
-The U.S. national debt was $12,150,000,000,000 dollars less than it is today
-Most children that are in 2nd grade today didnt even exist yet
-A case of Miller Lite cost about $15 bucks instead of $26 like today
Just crazy to think about. And after all of that time, Stet still never even earned a degree at UGA
Far out.

Why can't you bump old threads on the Rant anymore. Tried bumping a Stet thread, but it doesn't show.

RA the original post/thread starter, for "Spoiler Alerts" and that is LewDawg's bat signal to unanchor it.

“Ad astra por alas porci”
This is the Latin quote Stetson Bennett the IV chose a couple years ago for the bio line of his Twitter account
It translates - “To the stars, on the wings of a pig”
I don’t read Twitter but Mike griffin mentioned it in his new superb article. And if I were the one that gets to make the movie, I’d definitely have a scene where Stet types that shite out
Stet 100% heard, read, listened to, and knew what the counts had to say about him. Just incredible

Actually, the scene would be Stet in a core literature class. And the professor is lecturing on John Steinbeck and writes the Latin quote loudly on the chalkboard. Stet looks up from studying the playbook he has folded and hidden within the class textbook. And he then scribbles the quote at the top of one of the play sheets. The words then fade into a practice montage. Kirby going ballistic

I don't think Stetson Bennett is the real story here.
He tried hard, kept his nose to the grind stone, got the job done, then did it again. And then did it again by getting drafted. That's not really a story, that's a plot element.
The story is the a-hole fan-guy off the field. The kunt. The slave to the zeitgeist.
That's your character, that's the story arc, that's the comic tragedy.
It's not filmed as a documentary, and it's not even about sports; it is filmed as 2nd person narration like Red in Shawshank Redemption in a story about Andy.
