It takes a while for some receivers to bloom. Matt Landers could never bring his practice game to Saturday for us but he outperformed Jadon Haselwood for Arkansas.

Maybe Arian Smith will get it together. I hope he gets lots of chances.

If a player tries that with Kirby, I doubt he will be playing much. That is akin to quitting and we all know how Kirby feels about a quitter.

I've never seen so little posted about spring. Anyone know how the scrimmage went?

Seems like from everything I’ve seen, they didn’t scrimmage but more of a full practice. Almost same results. Offense making progress, defensive backfield is figuring things out quickly and the dline continuing to go through some issues

Just that’s a unit the coaches and Kirby have been on all offseason and Spring this far. Calls them out constantly in practice and supposedly called the Dline as “terrible as last year” or something like that

That’s because everyone is focused on our basketball teams run in the NIT at the moment…

Top 3 WR should be Young, Bell, and Lovett

Arian Smith looks to have improved.

Anthony Evans is very fast.

Daylen Everette has been taking snaps at STAR too.

But he’s still better in straight coverage than Aguero, Jones, etc. If Everette can be physical enough and pick it up that could be a good way to get the best total coverage on the field.

He was a Freshman and got beat a few times but I seem to recall he had many good moments too.

He was a sophomore. He had one moment and that was against Auburn. Not sure what film you were watching though.

Those players you listed were true freshman last year, that is why Everette got the start.

Nothing showed me he was better than those guys tbh

You’re right they were freshmen, but I specifically listed the guys at star. They’re safety/corner/ tiny linebacker hybrids. My point is that even if you think Everette isn’t a good enough corner he’s still better in coverage than what we have at star now. That should be a given. What is not a given is if Everette can be physical enough to play the run the way our star position has to.

I’ve thought since the end of the year that he should be challenged to win the star position because that way Humphrey and Harris or Robinson can play corner and we’d be in really good shape as far as pass coverage. Again. Playing the run is the big question. All this could be for not anyways as he could just be cross-training like a lot of our players do.

I hope this spring they give everybody opportunities to feel like they're in the running for significant playing time. Heard a rumor that right now UGA's roster is attracting lots of outside offers. That wouldn't be surprising, I guess. This new "wild west" means you have to re-recruit everybody until the portal is closed at the end of April.

How tf has he let this happen?

I don't see that as a negative statement, just a coach pushing his players to get better. Unless they get hit by portal losses and/or injuries, this DL group is deeper and more talented than the '23 group. Maybe not quite as experienced, which is why he's coaching them hard in spring practice.
