Any chance we get an over zealous Tom Ritter or another fun police ref decides to flag the jazz hands and call back a TD?

Absolutly wouldn't suprise me if it got flagged against Bama. Look for that and targeting to be the big swing penalties if they are going to frick us.

my thoughts exactly... I know it is all in fun but it seems like he is just asking for a flag. Kinda shocked the coaches haven't nipped that in the bud.

I think if Sony does it by himself, he wont get called for it but if the entire team does it like they did against Southern and USCe, it will definitely get flagged.

Only if someone else does it with him. But that's something i mentioned in the pregame thread (if that's what it is) that I'm really worried for. Last week everyone did it with him, and that's technically a penalty for a group celebration. It's a stupid rule, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if it got called on us at a very inopportune time.
eta: Fats beat me to it.

a celebration doesn't call back a TD. A TD would only get called back if the celebration was during the actual play..the only one I can even recall was Brad Wing taunting while running into the endzone and it got called back.
A celebration after scoring would just be a 15 yard unsportsmnalike.

Also, does anyone know the story behind that move?
I never took it to be "jazz hands", since that would be gay as shite. I always took it to be more like a "nah nah nah mayne, yall get off me" type of thing

Yeah, it's not jazz hands. I definitely take it the same way you do, I'm just not sure if there's a good phrase to describe it.

well whatever it results in is not good and I'd rather it not happen, or risk having it happen

Not a fan... Todd Gurley celebrations against Clemson were way cooler

Chubb needs to deliver another 3-word motivational speech like he did in the huddle against Southern..
"No Jazz Hands!"
"No Jazz Hands!"

In the deaf community it stands for applause. Anybody know if Sony has a family member who's hearing impaired? Maybe that's his signal to them.

Deaf people can still clap. Why would they need to use sign language for clapping?

I didn't say it was sign language for applause. It's used in place of applause, like at Gallaudet University's graduations, etc.

They can still clap their hands, but the sound does them no good. I used to date a girl who was a sign language major in college. She explained the why about it at one point, but I've slept since then.

If jazz hands means applause, what is the sign for jazz hands?
