Read this article from Dawgnation dumbass.

LINK

What do you expect to happen when they just increased coaches salaries by 2 million per year, and are in the process of spending nearly 100 million on football facilities. We were 12th out of 14 schools last year before the increase. Not counting donations, which vary to such a degree that a ranking is difficult, we're fifth behind four other schools in average ticket price. People like you have been whining for years about UGA increasing spending to compete with the top schools. They're starting to do that and now you are whining about ticket prices. Seems to me you aren't happy unless you're bitching about McGarity or UGA.

You either want a top football program or you don't.

Did you even read the link provided??It was a DETAILED analysis and response to Mcgarity's bullshite in the article you linked.

He can't even be honest about the reason for the price increase. If it's about supply and demand just freakin say it.The ticket price increase will bring $6+ million per Ears and the coaching salary increase is $2+ million. We're also expecting $9 million (minimum) revenue increase from the'17 season.

Do you realize we received $4.6 million for "travel expenses" for the CFP?(Not included in the $ 9 million BTW)

Hell, read the first freakin link...$47 million in profit and that's with the biggest reserve fund in the SEC.

And we still have one of the worst game day experiences in the SEC.

I get the hate for McGarity, but some of y'all are giving him way too much credit. There is an entire committee that approves the budget. It's like blaming the president when the economy is bad.

He's the CEO and has the ability to make it happen.

It was obvious what Nick Saban was doing when he came to Bama in regards to extra coaching support and we were the last of the big 6 to add the extra support...Mcgarity knew we were falling behind but didn't care because revenues were pouring in.This doesn't even include CMR having to pay out of pocket for his asst coaches.

Thank God he finallu stepped up to the plate with CKS...not much of a choice though.

If Mcgarity wasn't so incompetent many folks might overlook his cheapness.

Maybe. Still haven't seen any balance sheet info anywhere other than small unsourced tidbits within the thread. Hard to really know what's going on without having all the facts.

This is just part of the deal. Tickets to watch a top program cost more money. Supply and demand.

This isn't specifically for you, but since HT decided to broach the subject as well...

This post, and this discussion *isn't* about being upset about the ticket increase. Anyone with a pulse who watched last season could have guessed that ticket prices were going to go up... right, wrong, or indifferent, it was just going to happen. I'm fine with that.

This post *IS*, however, continued discussion and evidence that McGarity really does seem to be in over his head consistently when it comes to PR. The move could have easily been pointed to from a supply/demand standpoint and just left it at that... most probably wouldn't have balked. Instead, he and the athletic department tried to spin it as some dire budgetary crisis because of increased coaching salaries that were coming... Except that even after the coaching salary increases, the details provided thus far appear to indicate that the program revenues and profits could more than easily support those. Granted, it's possible for outstanding debt and other "on paper" commitments, to modify these numbers, but these are the kind of things that it would be in McGarity's best interest to point to... given that he didn't it's simply one more thing that echoes of dishonesty and downright patronizing behavior to a fanbase that quite frankly would probably have responded much better to brutal honesty...

"We're raising prices because we can. You guys said you wanted a winner.... this is the cost of winning."

Right. It’s one thing to spin facts, which I expect any public facing executive to do, but straight up lying is different.

Or maybe he believed this to be the truth because an underling bullshitted him.
