We've faced three decent passers, Lock, Shurmur and Bentley. They all had some success against us, but none of them had the surrounding cast that Stidham has. If he gets as much time in the pocket as Bentley did, this game could get ugly.

On defense, Auburn's goal is to hit the quarterback repeatedly, even if it means using late hits. They'll try to knock Fromm out of the game.

Bama is beatable, IMO, but unless we find a way to get pressure on the qb, we may play Auburn twice.

it's a good thing we have the dilemma of having the best backup QB in the SEC....

What makes you think that? Auburn has had something like 13 sacks in their other 8 games

Im on my phone so cant post the link. Kirby quoted today saying this(Auburn) is the best OL we have faced since ND.

That's coach speak. Their offensive line is offensive. Our pass rush should eat Stidhams' lunch.

Damn well better play better than we did against South Carolina, because I don't think we touched Bentley more than once all day. The only would be sack was the missed sack against the goal line that he escaped and completed a 30 yard pass. We need to be more aggressive with our blitz packages and do a better job disguising them.

Wrong! Roquan had a sack on a blitz and he and Reggie Carter shared a sack.

DEFENSE
Our defense is better. They like to run it & we like to shut that shite down. We're gonna hit KJ all day & put it on Stidham's shoulders. He makes mistakes when he's physically & mentally pressured (like playing catch-up). Namely, he throws poorly and/or into tight coverage. Don't need to sack him, just close the pocket & hurry him; he'll do the rest.

OFFENSE
Teams run & pass effectively vs Auburn. We'll be the best offense they've faced so far. Our depth at RB will grind them down & allow Fromm to pass. And he'll be his accurate self. The Mecole sweep should pick up good yardage.

COACHING
Kirby will make effective adjustments at the half; Gus won't.

CONCERNS: late hits on Fromm, dirty hits on linemen, & homecooking.

Well we got two sacks, soooo...

Two sacks is good in a game, and putting pressure on a QB is more than sacks. It is just making him hurry his throws and flushing them out of the pocket.

We also knocked 2-3 passes down. (I remember Trent and Bellamy knocking passes down) We actually got very good pressure on the QB. There were times when he had time to throw, but there are going to be those times.
Sacks a really great statistic, but don't go overboard thinking we are not getting pressure on a QB if we don't have a lot of sacks.
