And why? (ie: Smart understands that a CFB team takes on the personality of their HC and, thus, needs a hard-working leader with enthusiasm that doesn't do that inane ear hole to thigh pads pregame huddle thing that CMR did).

Hard to say. I'll wait until he has his staff in place to make a "far too early" prediction about Kirby's first three years, and even then, I'll want to assess the current class.

Pass.

You just described Muschamp, didn't you?

Richt took a lot of heat for stuff...but his personality? That's crazy. Some of the greatest coaches that ever lived were fairly mild mannered. AND, some of the greatest coaches that ever lived had firey temperaments. You can say the opposite of those things, too.

This. Too early to say. I will say I am not sure the talent KS is inheriting is better that what Richt received when he became a HC coach here. I mean this in relationship to the talent on other teams at the same time as we do have talent just not across the board and in all the right places. If David Greene had not been on the team when Richt arrived, the first few years might had been very different. The coaches are better today across the SEC and the game has evolved so KS might be better but the wins and loses may not show it.

The team absolutely took on Richt's temperament. Being upset when you lose is not the same thing as wanting to win and being willing to commit to doing what championship teams do with respect to physical, mental and character toughness.

Those were not hallmarks of Mark Richt-coached teams since 2006.

Richt's performance in the first 3 years will be hard to beat winning the SECC in 2002 and then beating Perdue in Capital One bowl in 2003 to finish 11-3. Richt inherited a darn good team.

Don't think Smart will do better than that with this team. Downvote.

Yea, Donnan left Richt a lot of good players. If the replay had been in use in Donnan's day he probably would have won 2 of the Tech games he lost and may not have been fired when he was.

I remember doing that before games in Jr. High and thought it was stupid then. I like CMR, but I think CKS is brighter, works harder, and will not accept mediocrity.

You can play with heart and fire....and still suck balls at football.

QB is tenuous at best with either Lambert or a True Freshman taking snaps. WR...it's gunna be bad. TE...Not convinced it will be much better. Loaded at RB but if we can't pass it won't matter what those guys do.

D will be fine as long as we keep our core of returners back.

Next year looks a lot like 8 wins. A lot of the "Anybody but Richt" crowd will wonder if that's the best way to go and hopefully Kirby turns out to be a better coach but nothing I see says it's going to be easy.

This team needed an offensive identity in 2015 and might need one even worse in 2016. That's not a step forward to me. Next year was the year IMO to switch coaches in hopes for the next guy to have an immediate impact with a solid core to have that impact. I think that Richt, Smart....50% of coaches out there could take this 2016 team to 8-4. Better temper expectations now.

Smart loyalists will be the new Disneys next year.

Interesting to compare what thoughts were just a month ago:

A new HC - what are our expectations?

Kirby's name doesn't appear often, if at all.

Spurrier leaving uf played a big role in richt's early success.

Smart has a lot more to work with than Richt did when he started

One could argue otherwise.

Who cares about the 1st 3? I'll be more worried what KS does after those 3 years compared to how Richt went into a decline. Plus our talent that we have right now isn't up to par to where it needs to be.
