I have my new toy at a local shop here in Athens getting Paint Protection Film, new window tint and Ceramic coating put on.
Anyway, next to my car was Carson Becks car, he just brought it in for new tint and PPF. Made my toy look like a Yugo.

Anyway his car?
A Lamborghini Urus Performate with a starting sticker price of over 300k. I am sure this is standard these days at all Big SEC schools.
I mean yeh for him but sheesh a college student buying a 300k car (That is just the starting sticker)
The game we love is slowly dying. Call me an old man I guess.

Which go me thinking imagine what Herschel Walker, Bo Jackson or Joe Burrow, etc would have gotten in NIL money had that existed in their day... .

Edit - I just noticed a post on the RANT about this. I apologize for the duplicate. I rarely read the SEC Rant as its a sea of complete idiots generally..

TV money created all this. Before then, coaches made reasonable salaries and players got a couple bucks for working for car washes and beer distributors on the side.

Herschel was reportedly paid $250,000 before he ever committed to UGA. His parents got a new house with a swimming pool. The man who became Hershel's agent told me that when Herschel was a sophomore. Before our conversation that man asked me where I went to college. Because I was a Dawg he was sure that I wouldn't blab. That's all ancient history now.

I am a car guy so researched his car.

Holy smokes.
657 HP twin turbo.
0-6 in 3.1 seconds.

That car has some power.

Did he actually buy it? I keep seeing people say that but that seems....unlikely. I would assume that it's far more likely he's leased it for 12 months.

Also we've seen it at ole miss, bama, texas, and probably doznes more schools of players posing with lambos, bentleys, etc. It's just part of the NIL game. I figure that the dealership lets the plaver have the car for a limited amoutn of time and in turn they get mega exposure as the cool dealserhip where players get their ride.

I 'm sure carson got a hefty payday to come back but I would honestly be disappointed if he actually purchased this vehicle straight up.

Well I cannot imagine he is putting on PPF and Tint if he is leasing it.
But I have no idea again I was just looking at it, talking to the owner of the place we have our cars at about it (took a video because its beautiful because I am a car nut).

What car did you get (if you don’t mind saying) and what shop did your ppf? I’m a little bit off a car nerd here in watkinsville. I’m ripping around in a mid life crisis mobile, an integra type s.

There's a difference between a 5th year senior who sat on the bench for 3 years waiting his turn and then lit it up when his number got called, and a true freshman coming out of high school with a $300k car. Carson has earned this. If this were a pic of Puglisi or any freshmen I'd be more cranky about it.

Dude could get hurt or wash out in the pros and he pissed away an amazing opportunity generations of college football players didn’t get to build a helluva nest egg with a depreciating asset.

Yeah, I’m not gonna pretend to be annoyed by this.

Carson Beck getting a nice car at this stage of his career is everything NIL SHOULD be

Everyone loves hyperbole and pining for the old days now and then, but how the hell is "the game we know dead."

How is a game experience at Sanford Stadium today any different than it was 10-20 years ago, aside from blinky lights and a new tunnel to run out of and way more piped in music?

I’m not saying anything other than spending a big chunk or your NIL money on a $300k car shows poor judgment.

Well compared to Becks car it pales in comparison.

2024 Mustang Dark Horse.

For a long time been saving up and wanted a Shelby GT500 but after I read about the new Dark Horse coming out over a year ago been on a quest and finally got my hands on one.
Its an absolute blast. Its a muscle car so I had to get a manual transmission. 500hp of naturally aspirated V8 and 418lb/ft of torque. Plus its the all new Coyote engine so has dual throttle bodies. Going to do some mods to get it closer to 800hp. But that is a "maybe one day" thing. After buying this Dark Horse then doing Full PPF, Ceramic and new tint. My checking account needs a rest and more importantly some time for my wife to move to her next stage... acceptance. She is currently still in the anger phase.

The final run of the Dodge Demon (Dodge is discontinuing V8 muscle cars) is out and has 1046 HP but they are asking stupid money for them.
Plus I have always been a Mustang zealot.

I am using EZ Auto Spa on Cleveland just off Atlanta Highway. They have a location in Duluth as well I think
Little slow but do excellent work.

I live in Watkinsville as well (off Whippoorwill) so you will see/hear me around... Went to Locos last month and guy was there who has a 2021 Shelby GT500 that is just insanely badass. We both had the hoods open. Saw a Bullit the other day so there is a few of us Mustang guys around. Do you go to Cars and Coffee in Athens. Lots of cool cars go each month. Classics to muscle cars

Here are some pictures
They used it in one of their Social Media posts got some cool picture of it.

Then just this one the day I got it

It is a depreciating asset class but it won't be worth zero in the next 5 years unless he wrecks it but that's what insurance is for. What if he spent his other money on responsible investments and this was the 10 percent of his kitty that his advisor said "go spend something for yourself"?

If his advisor said buy a $300k car he is a bad advisor
$20k ad velorum tax and $7k per year insurance on top of it.

Cool I’m off Harden Hill. Look for my blue Integra Type S. It’s only a measly 320 HP but can make it feel like your eyeballs are leaving your head in the corners. I had spent over a year trying to get a civic Type R at MSRP. I finally realized that wasn’t going to happen. I got this Acura and it’s all the same guts as the Type R but with a little more power.

I used EZ as well but just did a paint correction, tint, and ceramic coat. I’m still thinking of doing ppf on the front.

I like cars and coffee, I was at the last one, drooling over the NSXs. I’m definitely into the Japanese stuff, but can appreciate the muscle cars and classics too.

Back on topic, I gotta agree with Peter and others that this is a foolish purchase for Beck. That said, I’m sure we all hope he hoists a playoff trophy and a Heisman next year on his way to a first round pick and more Italian cars.
