for Kentucky.
They’re missing two starting DL - the nose guard McCall & tackle Oxendine. That’s huge. McCall injured vs UF & a true freshman Saunders played — he sucks.
Last Saturday, with McCall out, LSU’s RB went for 150 yds. GA ran for 273 vs ARK. Same thing’s gonna happen tomorrow because now Oxendine — who’s arguably KY’s best DLineman — out.
Our RBs vs KY’s DL
43-6
(P.S. KY’s a turnover machine — 12 fumbles/6 INTs & they’re in Sanford. Dey fkd.)

I want the defense to totally lock them down.
No stupid turnovers on O that give them short fields, and don't let them inside our 40.
I want every Kentucky fan who's been parroting, "But we have the leading RB and WR in the SEC" to realize how hollow that is when you play their caliber of schedule.

Our front has been capable of shutting down the run successfully, leaving enough backs to clamp down on the passing game. Having a single good WR isn't good, because we can scheme around that. What they need are multiple passing threats to be accounted for.
A single good RB and a single good WR isn't going to cut it.

Arkansas dropped 8 all game. Running for 273 against a defense that is taking away the deep ball is different than running for 273 against a defense playing straight up or trying to stuff the run.
Not the best example.

Not to mention that Levis isn't scaring anyone.
Dude will be seeing ghosts out there

How is Kentucky's secondary? Monken is all about taking what you give us, so I imagine he will test them once they start loading up the box on us.

UK lines up primarily in a 3-3-5 defensive alignment.
We all saw how well that worked for Arky with arguably better skill players.

I know it’s probably not fashionable to hate uk. But i hate their football team because of all their obnoxious, entitled basketball fans. Football is OUR sport and I hope we humiliate them.

Impossible, I read on this board that we're the only team in the country dealing with injures.

I wouldn’t say Ark dropped 8 all game. By the 2Q & 21-0, they were keeping 5 in the box plenty. But like you implied, Ark wasn’t the only opponent we rushed for 200+.
The injuries to KY’s starting NG & T are game-changing. Stoops acknowledged in his presser that the loss of Oxendine was “not good” & that they’d be moving people around on the DL. Not good is an understatement.
Think their reshuffled DL that will now include a true freshman gels by tomorrow? Yea, me neither.
Dawgs get 200+ on the ground Saturday and there’s nothing KY can do about it — they lack the depth & type of athletes needed to stop our OL & RBs from feasting. Especially in the second half.

Last's year's defense held them to three points last year in Lexington and without Jordan Davis.
Really doubt they move the football much on Saturday.

Transfer market has basically gifted them an upgraded QB and WR. I’d love to harken back to last year, and Levis doesn’t scare me but lord knows he’s way better than Joey Gatewood in his first start.

In the box before the snap and rushing the passer are 2 completely different things.
UAB was showing quarters presnap and basically throwing everyone at the line of scrimmage at the snap with a single high safety trying to stuff the run game.
Arkansas was consistently only rushing 3 and 4 all game (even up until the 4th quarter). The few times that they did send pressure, Monken had the deep shots licked up but Stetson pulled the ball down and scrambled for 10-15.

Left tackle is from LSU as well.

I havent watched any kentucky all year.
Id rather watch the dawgs 3 times over.
I have read that the secondary is undersized. Safety play is solid.
They seem above average defensively in opposing QB efficiency and run defense.
The defense gets a lot of tackles for loss (lead the conference i think), so i presume they may force a lot of longer yardage situations.
That said, they dont seem to get off the field on 3rd downs. One of the worst in the conference.

Who gives a shite about rushing the passer? You said they dropped 8 all game. And you’re 100% wrong.
It’s not about rushing the passer, which Ark rarely did. It’s about the difference between playing the run & playing the pass. And you can count on 1 hand the number of times Ark dropped those 2 LBs into pass coverage.
The majority of the game those 2 LBs played the run. At the snap, you can see them both immediately stepping forward looking for the RB.
So your comment that Ark dropped 8 all game, it’s fking bullshite. With 5 in the box, they played the run 95% of the time. Those 2 LBs didn’t drop into pass coverage 1 time in the 4Q.

If you arent rushing forward, then you are dropping in coverage. Arkansas rushed 3 and 4 men the vast majority of snaps (dropping 7 and 8 into coverage).

Lol
They were in 3-3-5 personnel much of the game. Im not sure where you are getting 2 linebackers.

Playaction forces most of the team to react to the run. We are a playaction heavy team. Welcome to 2021.
You seem emotional about this. Maybe if you werent, youd realize what happened against arkansas.

I never said that they did.
Again, if you werent so emotional about this you may be following along better.

There’s a difference between rushing the passer and playing the run.
We ran 56 times & passed 11. Why the fk would they drop 8?
Arkansas doesn’t play a 3-3-5. They play a 3-2-6. 2 LBs — #27 Hayden Henry & #31 Grant Morgan. They use the nickel & middle safety in run support.

quote:Dont think we can hang our hat on this one. It might be similar but I think it’s more because it can be argued that our defense is just as better as their O is better. But it’s a different scheme with different challenges.

BUT
it’s in Athens. Jordan Davis is playing. Our defense is pretty much better across the board than last year.
