In an all sec season. Take it for what it's worth.

It's our first SEC game so with the new change it'll obviously be our first game

Are you saying the game will get moved up
to an earlier date?

Good point but short of the sec creating a massive match up to replace our and bamas kickoff games, I imagine schedules get blown up from both a date and order perspective.

I would think it would be a logistics nightmare to change dates this late in the
game.

It's all very inconvenient, but that's 2020.

If it goes to only conference games they would almost have to blow it all up, or at least a lot of it. That means a shorter season that will probably start later. You can't have 4 week long gaps in the schedule (bye wk plus 3 non-conference games).

I don't have much hope that there's a season - so I hope you're right.

The nation is starved for sports. There is no more compelling sport than SEC football. Our conference can be the nations' big show. All that means that the SEC can demand their own way about schedules and venues. If the players are onboard they should be rewarded well. Maybe there is a silver lining. At least, I hope so.

I'm not seeing 4 week gaps after we have a later start. Most of the SEC conference schedules have 3 of their OOC games bunched at the beginning of the year.Almost every school has 3 OOC's in September.

You're right. Take the first OOC game out because no SEC teams play each other wk 1. But starting week 2 until the last week there are some teams with ooc games during those weeks. They aren't all the same week. They are obviously mostly conference games but not all.

For example, auburn plays Vandy wk 2. We don't play til week 3. Then the last week we wouldn't play tech, Auburn will play UA. So they start a wk earlier and end a week later. Its going to be disjointed scheduling for all 14 teams. I would think if they went to
conference scheduling they would play 9 games in 10 weeks. Not 9 games in 12/13 weeks. That was really my point.

ETA: Of course, this is all assuming they don't add more conference games to fill the voids.

I'm not sure that's possible but 9 in 11 or 12 might be doable.

Move the start to the last week in September and fill in the missed conference games before Sept 26 to that weekend if possible (we can move the Bama to that date because we both have OOC games scheduled) or move it to OOC games scheduled in October/November.

I'm sure it'll get complicated in some cases.

IF they did the current SEC schedule plus past two before last year (LSU/MSU) or future two after 2021 (Not sure..) that would be compelling and give the ability to start a week later and possibly have one extra week off during the season.

In the big picture, if the major conferences all do this, the smaller schools that live off those paychecks are going to be hurting even more.

Trying to imagine playing Bama, LSU, and Auburn in the same year.

If there's an asterisk on this season, it increases the likelihood (exponentially) that we win the CFP.

I love college football but the fans in the stands are what makes it special. College football without fans would be really weird.

I think higher-ups know that there isn't going to be a season at this point. They're giving the illusion that alternate methods of scheduling are being attempted. Really, they're just letting us down slowly so it looks like they're trying so we can accept the reality of no football more easily. I really hope I'm wrong, but it doesn't make any sense. Think about it. How is it ok for USCe to travel to Baton Rouge, but not Clemson?

Because you're traveling less.

Traveling to four places instead of six cuts down on potential infections

We had 3 scheduled OOC games in Athens and one in Atlanta.

I believe there are only 3 SEC OOC games west of the Mississippi
