I didn’t have a car in 2021 so I cant compare, but a simple google search shows that’s not true:
quote:
The U.S. national average retail gas price in November 2021 was approximately $3.39 per gallon, compared to $4.15 per gallon in November 2026. You can track current trends and historical updates via resources like Macrotrends U.S. Gasoline Prices. Price Comparison • November 2021: The national average stood around $3.39 per gallon as the economy recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic and global energy demand rebounded. • November 2026: The national average is around $4.15 per gallon (following recent declines from earlier peaks), influenced by ongoing international conflicts and constrained global oil supply. • Difference: An increase of about $0.76 per gallon (roughly 22.4% higher) compared to five years prior.

Good luck pulling their heads out of the sand.
They are saying Texas is in trouble for Abbott. This may be an all time pissed off voter population

I know you'll argue anything, but this one's hard argument to make. The statewide average was 2.78 in late February before shooting way up. What big story in the news began in late February?
What political party brought gas prices down to $2.78?
They aren't "worse" than under the democrats.
And when we are comparing prices today to prices 5 years ago as the same, that isn't inflationary.

5 years later, I'm paying $3.50 a gallon.
A few months before your specific search, prices were over $4 a gallon.
This isn't rocket science. You are literally making my point for me.

Inflation up, unemployment up, gas prices up, Americans getting killed in the streets, Iran war has been a massive failure. That's not on the Dems
Inflation has been up since the government spent like drunk monkeys during Covid. "Americans are getting killed in the streets"? Do you know what the Iranian government has done to the Western World, and to their own people? You need to study up before you front for Democrats.

If not for the Iran war, these races would be much better for Republicans. But as history shows, mid terms do NOT favor the sitting POTUS.

I asked my wife about the economy.
She said it sucks.
I asked what that means.
She said we don't have enough income to save for discretionary spending.
My youngest is going to be buying his first car soon, and she doesnt know if a good deal is possible right now.
I asked how long has it been bad like this.
She said 2 to 3 years.
Basically, she says what we all know about inflation. We saw 9% and 6% inflation under Biden. Inflation dropped to 3% and 4% under Trump.
But prices never deflated.
They just keep creeping upward.
Anyway. That's the opinion of the opposite sex in a conservative North Georgia household.

Lol good Lord.
Tell your wife to look at the Q4 2024 CPI numbers and then trend it out to the current quarter
Then do the same for the 10 yr yield.
Y'all had 16 years to save for a car. Poor execution on your part.
Dems may flip the state house

I'm not buying the car.
My 18 year old son is.
He is my youngest.
My wife is comparing the quality of car purchased from 2021 with my oldest to 2022 with my second and 2024 with my third. Based on an average $10,000 buying power.
There is a used car bubble that never burst.
My kids buy their own vehicles and pay their own insurance/gas/maintenance.

She doesnt want socialism.
She is saying the quiet part out loud.
Things got bad and never improved.
My interpretation, "they just got less bad" under Trump.
But that is why inflation is the devil.
The silent tax.
The tax on the poor.
It is why I burn up inside thinking of the Fed cutting interest rates before the 2024 election when core cpi was 3.3%

Economic principles dictate that government and consumer spending creates inflation. There's nothing that any politician can do about either, individually. Trump tried to level the playing field of cheap imports with tariffs, but consumers kept buying and businesses kept making money and stocks kept rising, so salaries went up to match inflation. Now that Democrats have gained seats, you'll see the stock market recede. Your 401k will be reduced and you will have to work longer before you retire. You can thank Democrats and those who ignorantly voted for them.

No one knows what the stock market is going to do.
It is foolish to think this changes anything.
We are just as likely to see the stock market continue business as usual because the stock market likes certainty.
And gridlock in congress/white house is the definition of certainty.
The best thing Washington can do for the economy is push for energy independence. Build more refineries. Build a damn nuclear plant (please). Continue pipelines from Canada.
The secret to Trump term 1.0 was low gas prices.
We can accomplish that again with long term capital investments that should have started 10 years ago.
