I think there's enough evidence out there to see that SEC officials have a tendency to put their thumb on the scale in close games.

For instance, when LSU and Auburn met, there were consistently egregious holds committed by the LSU OLine against a damn good Auburn DLine, allowing Burrow to escape that game with minimal hits/pressures. It was a huge advantage given to LSU. LSU couldn't lose that game.

When we played A&M, there were several big missed calls that contributed to us walking away with the W. Made sense that UGA couldn't lose to A&M.

So, we all agree that LSU will be getting some beneficial officiating come Saturday, eh? Burrow, high-flying offense, can be framed as Bama's heir-apparent, etc. If they're allowed to hold like they did against Auburn, it's going to be a very long afternoon.

why? If your point is that the SEC officials want to sway things to do whatever is best for hte SEC, it would seem like UGA winning woudl be the answer there.

UGA wins= UGA 100% in, LSU 50% in

LSU wins= LSU 100% in, UGA 100% out

FIFY.

LSU has gotten away with it all season.

I'm actually hoping the refs swallow their whistles. Benefits UGA if our DBs can be very physical off the line.

I have no pity for Auburn when it comes to officiating. Their secondary uses pass interference as a standard technique, and their DL routinely pummels the quarterback after the pass is already thrown. Been that way since Nick Fairley was pile driving QB's into the turf multiple times a game. On offense they run pick/rub/OPI multipe times a game (as does LSU).

Dan Mullen was right, if not necessarily on the play that hurt his QB. The SEC needs to start calling roughing the passer a lot more. Auburn plays dirty and they deserve much worse than they get.

BTW, LSU got penalized for 118 yds in that game, vs 98 for Auburn.

Should've been 'bout 350 if they were flagging holds.

I don't pity Auburn, at all, but watching that game was infuriating to watch. Burrow should've been sacked several times and instead was escaping the pocket to rush for a 1st or getting additional time to find an open receiver. It was an absolute joke.

I don't believe there will be 2 SEC teams in the CFP...the committee has been kind of telegraphing that, imo.

LSU is exciting to watch. UGA isn't. SEC should want LSU to remain undefeated.

76 on LSU was tackling dudes and likely committed 12 sexual assaults.

They’ll just put it to a team vote

They haven't called holding (selectively) for years. In 2014, Florida held UGA on every single play when they were rushing for 418 yards. Our rushing defense was good that year, except for UF and GT, which was a TO team. Florida was an outlier for one reason.

I watched some Tennesse replays earlier this season and they were holding across the line, blatantly, without being called. If I had one critique of Pittman, it would be that his OL's don't hold enough. But, strangely, we don't seem to get that advantage nearly as often so I understand why he doesn't coach it that way.

Seems like Hubert Owen's gets all of our key games since Penn Wagers and that other bammer a-hole Steve Shaw isn't calling games anymore...

There is holding and there is grabbing by the neck, tacking and bareback sodomy holding. 76 did the later.

Penalties are a strategy for some teams.
3 things can happen:
1. You get away with it; no call.
2. You get caught/penalized.
3. At some point the penalties have piled up so much that the coach bitches about every call and the officials start feeling one-sided and stop making the calls.

On the bright side, no Bama bias this year.

I've rewatched multiple SEC games this year with my rewind firmly in hand. I've seen every form of assault from an OL, right in front of an official, with no call. Tennessee's OL earlier this year was rattling brains by the facemask, tackling, etc. In previous years I watched Auburn's offensive tackles doing takedowns on a regular basis. This is nothing new.
