Chase reminds me of Dylan Thompson. That’s a hell fricking no for me.

Any idea when some details of scrimmage 3 may start leaking out? Presently the big 12 is probably wishing football had been cancelled so I’m eager to hear stories of completed passes and competition

Save for one well defended interception in the 4th quarter, Dylan Thompson lit our asses up, dude.

Beck started with the 1’s today. Mathis spent the most time with the 1’s. Daniel threw a pick to Richie in 2 minute drill. Mathis threw a TD in 2 minute drill to Pickens. Rosemy and Burton showed out today. OL was back to normal at beginning, Salyer, Schaefer, Hill, Cleveland, Condon.

Compliments of SoFL Dawg at DawgNation.

Sounds like Mathis is inching closer to being the starter. Glad we get a tune-up against Arkansas to start the year.

Crazy to think earlier in the year many thought Mathis was the best bet to transfer with the stacked qb room, my how fast things have changed. I'm rooting for him to take the keys and run with it.

Condon

This guy's been the surprise story of the offensive line. He was a 3-star and some thought more of a project or at most, a depth player. Yet he's got the inside track to starting at RT.

But my question is: What happened to that highly touted OT from Rhode Island? He was the top football prospect in RI. Was it a case of, don't trust the football star ranking of a kid from a basketball state? What the heck was his name, anyway?

That’s Xavier Truss. Huge guy but can’t imagine he played against much in high school and he’s surrounded by talented guys. Just hasn’t worked out for him yet.

Right there with you. Mathis is the feel-good story, and if the kid has what it takes, then how awesome is that?

Mathis is a feel good story for sure but let's be honest here. Kirby brought in TWO qb's along with a highly touted freshman. You don't do that if you feel 100% about Mathis.

I'm intrigued by Mathis and his athleticism but it all depends on if Todd Monken can craft an offense around what he can actually do.

Since we're all Georgia fans we automatically assume Mathis takes over and he's the next DJ Shockley but let's remember we go to Bryant-Denny stadium in a month. I hope Mathis is ready by then and I especially hope Monken is drawing up plays he can execute.

Sure you do. Depth is very important. So is competition.

Another dumb take on your part. He brought in 2 grad transfers because Mathis had brain surgery and no one was sure what we might get out of him. Plus, he hasn't played a down of college ball. You bring in the talented freshman for depth now and competition later.

4 stars is 4 stars, isn't it? Was # 15 tackle prospect nationally.

Some 4 stars are top 40 players, others are not even top 250 players. Truss was #219. Hardly anyone we expected to be ready to start in the SEC right now.

Absolutely.
Some 4 stars barely miss being a 5 star.

Some 4 stars barely miss being a 3 star.

There is a huge difference between the two. Not just ability. But hype coming out of HS.
