Best case for the game is a weak tropical system that passes to the east, keeping West Alabama on the dry side with little rain. Worst case is for a tropical storm to bring widespread rain, heavy at times, and windy conditions. We will have a much higher confidence look by mid-week.

So, the question is, if there is torrential rain, who does that favor?

They said the same thing about this weekend and it's barely sprinkled in Gwinnett

I wouldnt worry about until Thurs/Fri

To answer your question, I would say it doesn't really favor one team more than the other imo. Russell would be a nightmare to tackle with poor footing tho. And we had ball security issues last time we played in wet weather.

But we have played in wet weather... shame with such an important game it can't move to the benz... never happen but being one of the biggest games of the year would be nice to see both teams at their best

No offense but that's some of the pussiest shite I've ever read. Football is an outdoor sport, weather is a factor and plays a role. Deal with it. This isn't the arena league.

I friggin hate rain games. Few things worse than sitting in uncomfortable metal bleachers getting poured on with your socks soaked through trying to watch offenses not turn it over.

yah, me and my mom were planning to take all our heavy raincoats to the game and stay as long as we could take it. I think we may have gotten a few drops of rain for Saturday's homecoming game. These storms sometimes move faster or slower than expected.

The only "acceptable" rain game I attended was the UT
game in 2022...great crowd and no one left because of it.But for the most part they do suck.

Yeah that one was an all timer. Not nearly as fun on the road though, or when losing ha.

When it started raining in the second half and Bullard got the second sack was one of the top 5 most electric moments in Sanford Stadium history. The rain somehow had the effect of working up fans into a frenzy.

I posted this not long ago but once the rain came and our fans got even louder, UT could do absolutely nothing it was almost hard to believe. Here is that sequence of events:

We had just fumbled and they had the ball and were driving. We commit a penalty to give UT a 1st down at our 30, and then...

-Run for 3 yards
-Sack for 5 yard loss
-False Start
-Sack for 6 yard loss
-False Start
-Sack for 3 yard loss (penalty gives UT 1st down and 15 yards up to our 23 yard line)
-Run for 4 yards
-Incomplete pass
-Sack for 4 yard loss
-Incomplete, turnover on downs

I can only remember a handful rainy games and they all were really good games.

1988 Tennessee - Huge win in Vince's final season. Also, the last time we beat them until 2000.

1993 Florida - The fricking timeout game. I hate Florida. Eric Zeier threw 65 passes in the rain and mud. His next to last one was for a potential gamy tying touchdown with seconds left but was negated because a Fl cornerback called time our right before the snap.

1996 Texas Tech - Bobo led the on a 97 yard drive in a minute left. The stadium was half full but as loud as I can remember when Hines Ward scored the 2 point conversion.

2009 Arizona State - We blocked a FG and then turned around to kick the winning FG as time expired.

2015 Alabama - I had to leave at halftime. I had a stomach virus and my OCD would rather I die than take a shite in a stadium toilet.

2022 Tennessee - A very fine game.

Edit for 15 Bama

WAs at those 96, 09, and 22 games.
Man that ASU game sucked complete arse. Not only was it probably the heaviest downpour I've ever dealt with at a football game but the game itself just totally sucked. Thank goodness for AJ Green

Can’t forget 2015 against Bama. I was a student so I spent a couple hours in line in the rain, all to watch Derrick Henry and them boys run all over us. Stadium started emptying out early in the 3rd, just a terrible day all around.

I was also at that ASU game, and I think I’ve only seen one other game in person with worse conditions than that one

I remember in that 2015 game bama had a sideline staffer, probably jsut a student GA or something, whose only job was to go around with this little tool and scrape all the mud and sod off the bottom of players' cleats. When I saw that it was striking the attention to detail their team had in comparison to ours (or lack thereof). Granted comparing Richt to saban isn't really fair but it just showed how far apart the two programs were.

If it’s an all day rain I have to think that will slow down the crowd and game. Bama has a turf field so a physical slugfest should benefit the better running game and make it tougher for receivers and the QB to make quick cuts to avoid defenders.

I actually think that gives us an advantage if it turns in to downhill runs and quick short passes. Their QB is inexperienced too so anything out of the ordinary could be disruptive.

I was at the 96 Texas Tech game too. We toughed it out until the 3rd quarter and we were so water logged we left in the 3rd quarter.

Wasn't at the Bama game in 2015 but that was the worst rain game I remember. We were already underdogs but I remember Lambert having the ball slip out of his hands and he threw a few interceptions.
