Obviously a bunch can change next weekend but as it sits now if UGA can hang on to the 4 spot it looks like the winner of Tulane TT for round 1 and then the shite gets real for the quarterfinals with either OK, ND or OState.

We’re on the opposite side of the brackets from AL, OM and A&M. We are in a good spot if this holds up.

ETA…assuming this will all change but wanted to start the discussion.

I just wonder what the rest of the non-SEC cfb world will be saying when the semis ends up UGA vs Oklahoma and Bama vs Ole Miss.

There's always a lot of narrative shaping and recency bias on championship weekend. If Texas Tech has a good day while Georgia is sitting at the house, I have a bad feeling that momentum will build for Texas Tech and they might jump us and get the #4 seed.

A double bye would be glorious for several reasons. Other fan bases would have a shite fit and come up with conspiracy theories about Georgia getting preferential treatment from the refs, the playoff committee, the lord and whoever else.

I still have the fear we could finish at 10-3 and miss the yoffs.

It's not bias, we have proven ourselves where others have not. The calls, there are 50/50 calls in every game and we have many go against us and the conference often decides to not call holding.

Even the Texas game, two years in a row they screwed up a PI call. Though they decided to properly call holding.

This is a very real possibility. Last year, ND got jumped because they did not participate in a conference game(for obvious reasons). The same could happen to us, just to prove a point. Who knows what is going on in the minds of the committee. But it also makes sense to reward a team for playing that extra game.

Very real they push TT up above us with conf champ bias and also likely the SECCG winner. We could beat Tech and end up 5th or 6th.

Committee also said they wouldn’t ignore conf champ losses…see if that holds true.

Nightmare scenario I’ve been thinking about today.
Somehow lose to a pissed off tech team while Texas beats A&M
Then Kirby does what he does best against bama in the seccg. IN THE SAME BUILDING TWO WEEKS IN A ROW.

And they should continue to get punished for not joining a conference. Since we are killing all the other weird traditions that made CFB great we might as well kill that one too.

I have no problem with that. ND thinks they are an entity unto themselves. based on what they did 50-100 years ago, they still get preferential treatment in the poll rankings and from the media. But, ND is free to negotiate their own television contracts, and because the media fawns over them, they can demand a huge contract. I think the latest was with NBC. (I may be wrong, but I think that is who they had an exclusive with. That may have expired by now)

Just looked it up and the contract is with NBC and has been extended through 2029.

NBC has been the home of Notre Dame’s home football games since 1991. Their current agreement was due to expire after the 2024 season.

The current deal with NBC pays Notre Dame about $22 million per year. Financial terms of the new deal were not disclosed.

The issue with the double bye is that's a long, long, long time to go between games and the rust factor becomes a concern.

That's definitely the only real downside, but I trust Kirby to have the team calibrated. I think that last year's Sugar Bowl will make it easier for Coach to get the players attention and have the mindset where it needs to be on gameday.

If we did that, we probably should miss. Also, we’re not losing to Tech.
