So do we actually know if Gilbert would be a TE or WR? I know he was recruited as a TE by UGA out of high school but I know when he transferred he wanted to have the opportunity to play WR. I have seen him listed as a TE a couple times lately but I thought he’d at least have the opportunity to try to play WR.

Does Gilbert have the speed to play WR? I thought he came here to play TE.

With all the different formations we run, the roles are blurred really

correct. its not like there is a direct quote from DW saying he's staying on the team. Its just pointing out that as of now, he's on the team. Hope he stays as well, but that doesn't mean the rumors are wrong. Its a long time until August

We could have a better team next year than this overall. Our defense will not be as good but our offense could be much better. A big key will be what happens with Monken and, if he leaves his replacement.
A good QB coach could go a long way, too, to help the young guys develop faster. (Bobo, maybe?)

What Peter said above is correct. Speed is just a component of playing receiver. hands, size, route running and what a kid can do with the ball after he catches it. Gilbert won't be a burner as a wide receiver, but he present s mismatch for DBs because of his size and catch radius.
You could conceivably see a formation out there with Gilbert, Washington, Bowers and Delp all out there at the same time....then run McIntosh out on a wheel route or something over the middle after the LBs are cleard out. I mean the possibilities are endless.
I have all the faith in the world if Monken is the OC. My faith drops a touch with anybody else, but it could still be very good depending on who replaces him IF he leaves.

He's the only one who's proven he can and will consistently target the TEs.

Of the ones we have had lately.....yes. A competent OC should be able to figure it out. The trick is finding innovative ways to get the TE the ball, and ways to get mismatches, which he was very good at. (See: James Cook split wide to see if they put a LB out wide with him) (It should also be noted that Bennett was very good at picking up on that and getting Cook the ball.

Big O Needs to work with Bowers on his hands.., but if he is returning, hell yeah!

There’s literally no reason we couldn’t get him singled up on the outside and run a fade type route when we’re on the 10 or better. Not everytime. But he’s a talent that we refuse to feed.

Tall, not super fast guy needs to get inside position rather than fade in my humble opinion. He is better on the hash routes.

That lone TD Bama scored in the NCG where they rifled the ball to their TE needs to be the kind of RZ play Big 0 gets on the regular.

He spent the first part of the season hurt... then Bowers kinda took his job as the go-to guy. I don't know if it's a 'refuse to feed' situation. He's definitely a deadly weapon.
'Refuse to Feed' sounds like something an ESPN talking schmuck who hasn't watched every UGA game at least 2x would say because they looked at a stat sheet.

If we can get away with the pick and push off, I’d run it every time
