It's not all about sacks, rarely has any QB sat comfortably in the pocket against us this year. They have been running for their lives. Not to mention the sec refs ignore holding on Carter more than any player not named Pollack.

Stidham quit, Wimbush quit, Dormady quit, Frank's quit, lock quit in the second half, Vandys QB quit, and fitzgerald quit early..... Why is that?

OU's defense, this year, is not prepared to handle UGA's offense.

Lorenzo is the second fastest player on a team with a ton of range, he is our outside linebacker slash defensive end. Roquan is the best defensive player in the country and does not miss.

Look guys. I get it. And I agree. You're good.
But this is the 10th verse of the same song we hear every time we play an SEC school. Literally the exact same thing. Different names for the players that's all.

I think Oklahoma's defense will prove to be better than you expect and better than most you've faced all year. You're looking at the 80-something ranked defense and think we suck. It is this way every year and it is a rare case when we don't out perform our ranking.

And our offense is good enough to play with the best defenses in the country. OU will not be overwhelmed on either side of the ball.

I'm not slighting you in the least. I just think it is a little naive to think that OU is too slow or soft to play with UGA.

This season, has OU played a team that did a good job with time of possession, keeping Mayfield on the sideline?

I quickly checked. we normally split the T.O.P. pretty much 50/50 with most teams. The two exceptions are we held the ball for about 10 min more than Ohio State and won. And WVU held the ball for 10 min more than us, and we killed them anyway.

If your offense trades scores with your opponent, TOP doesn't really matter.

The way I see it is the SEC bar none has the deepest supply of NFL talent , the numbers bare this out.

The league had qb problems that lead to coaching problems....bunch of coaches fired.

That said, our guys still faced very talented positional match ups in the line of scrimmage and skill positions.

You guys have the best QB we will see this year, bar none. But the guys around him have mostly faces junk defensive players and offense first team philosophies.

We are balanced and have a strong roster on both sides of the ball that are used to bashing heads against opponents that go to the NFL at a higher rate in the sec.

You will score points but so will we, I suspect Fromm will become a classier version of Mayfield. Similar talent with one having far more experience but Fromm having a far better surrounding cast.

I mentioned in another thread that Oklahoma's defense probably isn't as bad as their numbers suggest. I was surprised to find that UGA and OU have given up the same # of 20+ yard runs all season.

Their offense will get its yards and will put up some points. The real key is limiting big plays. That's what their offense is predicated on. Secondary can't allow guys to get wide open behind them.

Those are called "coverage sacks".

Nobody is open, so the QB is looking looking looking as the pocket collapses around him.

That's not necessarily a credit to the pass rush.

What SEC schools and what baseline are you using for this 10th verse?

No, they played as if they didn't want to be out there anymore. We made them quit.
It is Kirby's philosophy.

Forget numbers.

Pick any Georgia game out of a hat, and watch our defense play for 5 minutes.

Pick any OU game out of a hat, and watch their defense play for 5 minutes.

You'll see how soft they are.

Hell, take it a step further.

Pick any South Carolina game out of a hat, watch five minutes of their defense, then watch five minutes of OU's.

Setting all the BS aside, if we can hold OU to under 30 points we have a very good chance of winning the game

I agree with this.
And my first point was trying to point this out. UGA will probably hold us to fewer points than we're used to scoring but we'll score more on UGA than they're used to giving up.

Statistically is it likely even.

See my OP. First point.
Alabama, aTm, Florida, Tenn and Auburn
Basically every game we've played with an SEC opponent over the last decade.

I'm working my way through all your games. Just got done watching the Baylor game. If Baylor can put 41 points on you....your defense sucks donkey dicks.

Alabama did not even want to be there and Auburn backed into that game after losing to a UGA team in a transitional year .

Florida was a long time ago and UT is not what they once we're

You're getting a motivated, hungry, elite team and your getting their full attention.

Fair point.

In most of their games, they looked like an average 2017 SEC East defense. But in a few of their biggest ones (Ohio State, both TCU games) they actually played well.

I do think it's kinda telling that they trailed K-State by 2 scores at the half and the Baylor game came down to a final drive after an onside recovery. Not to mention losing at home to Iowa State. None of those situations would have happened with this Georgia team to that level of opponent.

That said.... this has been by design. We rarely bring more than 4.

THIS ^^^

We tried the whole stunt four and compromise outside contain in the first Auburn game and look what happened. The SECCG we threw pure blitzs at them corners/safties/linebackers. Roquan is given the range to blitz if he sees the opening. This proved to be the best way to defend Stidham. Mayfield has thrown fewer TDs this year than Lock. Lock throws the deep ball as well as anyone and we survived by having a dominant offense and hitting their defense in the mouth over and over until they quit. They both sport bottom 50 defenses. I feel like this will be about our offense imposing its will on the OU defense. I don't think OU realizes just how physical we are.

Anybody that thinks Oklahoma's offense is not legit doesn't know football. Mayfield is good and extends plays. He stays cool under pressure. They throw the ball well to their receivers, but also like to bring their Running backs out of the backfield and throw to them.

It's very difficult to compare two major teams from different conferences, and know exactly what to expect.
It should be a really good game.
