i told my wife I feel better about defending against either Clemson or Bama compared to OU. When they got on a roll and Mayfield got in a rythym it was scary. I'm not worried about Hurts throwing for 300 Yds.

I don't know what adjustments we made in the second half, or the pounding starting taking its toll or they just got overconfident but the fact that we held them to 14 in the second half was unbelievable.
More amazing when you consider the defense actually held them to 7. They got the other 7 on the Sony fumble and scoop, then got 3 more in OT. Pretty much shut them down in the second half.

I was in awe of their offense during the first half. It was both disheartening as a UGA fan but also fascinating as football fan to watch. Conversely, I thought our offensive playcalling was very middling during the first half. We threw on 60%+ of our plays in the first half while averaging over 18 YPC... I get what Chaney was trying to do, but I thought the situational play calling was stupid on his part.
OU fans are saying that RIley "slowed down" his offense to try and burn clock in the 3rd, but I think he was forced to slow down his offense. Our D started to tee off on Baker and :30 drives will destroy your defense against an offense like ours. When you're getting hit with negative plays, you need to slow things down to calm your offense down. Running a hurry up when your QB is getting pounded is going to get someone hurt.
OU was great a lot of the night. Great competitor at QB (even if I don't care much for his antics), their RB is the definition of an SEC caliber running back, and they have a talented, veteran OL. Thankfully we made adjustments at the half and they couldn't. Coaching won that game for us.

There 1st three drives were scripted and they ran the fastest hurry up I have ever seen. They did not substitute so we couldn't get set or change personnel. The plan was obviously to blitzkreig us from their opening offensive drive. Open up a big lead, and get us rattled and then pour it on. We kept it close enough to make adjustments at halftime and they had to go back to running a regular paced offense. It was a good plan by them but not quite enough to pull the upset against the better team.

L. O. fricking L.
Yeah, I'm sure he thought it would be a grand idea to slow down his offense after UGA made it a one-score game with 12:25 left in the 3rd quarter.
What an asinine claim. Whoever said that is dumb, and I hope you made them feel dumb.

I agree, but I can't post on LandThieves to make them feel stupid.

I can't remember the last time I saw a game that turned on its hat like that over halftime. It was night and day.
I figured all the hype I'd read about their offense was a bit hyperbolic. Nope, that offense was the real deal and it's no wonder they cut through the BigXII like hot butter.
Kirby, Mel, and even Chaney proved a lot to this fan last night. Those guys aren't just recruiting well and taking advantage of weaker opponents, they can just straight up coach. It seemed like they started making adjustments early-mid 2q but the uncalled holds were killing them and resulting in big plays even though they were regularly stuffing plays or even forcing some 3rd downs.

You don't need to. They're doing a fine job without any help.

We will need a totally different offensive scheme to beat Bama. I honestly believe Mecole and Swift need to have more yards from scrimmage than Chubb and Michel for us to win. We will not run inside on them (nor has anyone basically ever)

We didn't really run inside against Auburn in the SECCG. Toss/jet sweeps to the outside, IIRC. It's a classic UGA staple.

Bama d-line is 3x war tiger d-line

UGA made plays when we needed to, OK didn't.
It went to double overtime - they made plenty of plays, too. If you're only talking about the second overtime, then yeah - our defense and offense both came up big, and theirs laid eggs.

Alabama maybe be better, which I’m not sure they are, but 3x is a little far fetched.

The thing about Bama is that their style of offense is completely different from Clemson and OU.
Sure, Clemson's and OU's might be more explosive, but Bama's can be just as lethal. Instead of a bunch of flashy razzle-dazzle big plays, Bama's style is like an anaconda that slowly squeezes you to death. May not be fun to watch, but it works.
The other thing is that Jalen Hurts may not beat you with his arm, but he is deadly when it comes to scrambling on broken plays. Mayfield could run well, but really only when the play was a designed QB run. He wasn't the same threat to scramble that Hurts is. Hurts is more shifty and elusive. UGA needs to make sure he stays contained.
Can't let him do this kind of stuff: LINK
