thomass OT: SB Coke Commercial So then u have no issue with the commercial ?

I found it a tad sappy and patronizing. I think it would have hit the mark better if the entire song was done in English, even if it was with a heavy accent of the primary language of the alleged immigrants.

The U.S. is remarkably stable. Congress and the people who follow politics like a horse race may be polarized, but for the most part people are getting along w/ each other pretty well. This is nothing like the Civil Rights Era, for instance

I was happy watching this thread until I saw this. The uninformed voter is the problem. We need people to follow politics and turn this country around from the inevitable nightmare it's about to become. You're ok with 90%+ black people voting for Obama just because he's the same skin color and they have no idea what policies -other than "free shite"- he holds to?

I do. I want them to get involved, become more responsible, and stop listening to the race baiters who try and tell them they're owed something. The devil is in in socialism, make no mistake.

The uninformed voter is not the problem. "Overinformed" people like yourself are the problem. People who mine the the news cycle for fresh reasons to take umbrage, who try to shoehorn every action of a political entity into a ideological narrative, who see a transportation or farm bill as struggle of good vs evil. Your post above is what pays guys like Frank Luntz's mortgage. Y'all are driving the conversation in this country and it's ruinous and poisonous and ceaseless.

That's funny. You say people should be less informed? That's a strategy the Pelosi's of the world can cheer for.

I don't have a political narrative. I'm just a concerned citizen who sees people are being divided, pitted against each other, and manipulated because they don't know any better or don't take the time to become better informed.

Some people should be less informed, less involved. Some people more. But it really doesn't take all that much to make an informed decision. And when you participate too much (as it seems pretty clear to me that you do, given your jargon filled posts), you get drawn into the swirling vortex of the news cycle where its less a/b education and explanation and far more a/b controversy and recrimination (and, well, $$$ - be it profits or fundraising).

Trust me, focusing more on politics will exacerbate that, not lessen it. The last thing I need is my neighbors soliciting my opinion on that "socialist" we have in office, or asking a/b that "racist" Mitch McConnell.

Fox News, MSNBC, CNN and the like are the problem if these are the places you are getting your political ideology. People can't think for themselves. It's never good to go in closed minded about everything.

The issue here is if you ask those people what the term socialist means they have no clue.

You bet! That pic takes me back! My ex was from Pelham and she had a smokin body. The problem was she also had a grizzly bear for a stepdad.

I like where this thread is headed. Less infighting and more babes.
