Woodstock is doing ok. Bread was hard to come by last week. People stand in line for ground beef at our Publix. Costo is mostly just putting out whole cuts of beef. Topped up the brown liquor and now we're hunkered down.
This would be a good time to legalize weed.

Dougherty health officials expect more coronavirus cases as they await nearly 200 test results
Health authorities in Albany are investigating 3 deaths here in Albany. Covid-19 is suspected in all three deaths. Two of the patients were in their 40s.
Authorities are waiting for test results of 177 people. Phoebe Putney hospital has been working with the state and a private company for testing and is now working with a second private laboratory. We have 58 patients who're hospitalized and 31 who are being treated at home.

Not saying it isn't true or wasn't there, but this is not in the article you linked.

The two suspected covid-19 deaths in their 40s was reported in my Albany Herald newspaper this morning. I haven't found that article online yet. Doctors suspect covid-19 because the symptoms matched.
Wait - I found that article.

Underlying conditions? Were they being treated? Where did they die?

Help me understand this massive self distancing thing going on.
If everyone locks themselves in their home sure infections will go down, but won’t they just crank back up again once everyone gets back out? It’s not like this thing has a shelf life. Also, even if we totally lock down everyone that has it, this whole thing will start again once somebody from abroad brings it over again.
Part of me wonders if the UKs idea of building a herd immunity doesn’t make more sense for everyone except the most vulnerable.

Sorry, but I don't know anything more than what my linked articles report. I assume that the young fatalities died in our hospital.

Yes, once people start returning to work, people will continue to get infected again, but it will be manageable.
Spanish flu had 3 waves, and we could see something similar with this virus.

And we could see something similar to the seasonal flu or H1N1.....
Everyone is going nuts on the "it could." We going to do this every 7-10 years moving forward? How about the next 2017-2018 like flu season, we shut down everything again to save 60,000 Americans?

You are still using the flawed idea that this doesn’t have potential to kill 10x a bad flu season without strict and widespread interventions.

sure and it also has the potential to be "flu like". i can play that game too.

Sure, anything is possible, but are you good at the game? What exactly is your potential based upon?

If 'everyone' means everyone, then the virus gets extinguished. At least until another carrier shows up, as you point out.

There is no 'herd immunity' policy. The UK official said they will eventually reach something like herd immunity by taking the same measures to flatten the curve and mitigate the effect on their health care infrastructure.
Something to keep in mind: It's a fact that they're already better prepared than us to identify, seclude, and treat infected people. Our more difficult process to ramp up towards the necessary bandwidth compounds with the challenge of our late start make our situation more precarious than theirs.

It won’t happen that quickly. And the point of the lockdown is to SLOW IT DOWN. Right now, we run the risk of everyone getting sick all at once and flooding critical care facilities, which are finite. The average time to recovery is 18 days. We could get to a point where we cannot turn beds fast enough and people who would have lived otherwise, will die.

We can STILL only test the very sick right now. In Athens, GA. LabCorp has to order supplies for each test, which takes days.
Btw, UGA Athletic Department now has a positive employee.
