COVID-19 cases have plateaued in Albany, but the curve is not downward at Phoebe hospitals
From the Phoebe Putney Hospital website.
"We hit our peak for COVID-19 hospitalizations the second week of April and saw a steep decline throughout the rest of that month. We hoped that decline would have continued through May. Instead, our numbers have plateaued, and we continue to admit new COVID-19 patients each day. Thankfully, the rate of new hospital admissions is much lower now than it was in late March and early April, but the numbers show the virus is still being transmitted in our community."
People are feeling more comfortable in Albany but the vast majority of us are still wearing masks and avoiding crowds. The future is uncertain. The global pandemic rages on.

That's great news, thanks for posting.
The cases in the area went down significantly then leveled off. Let's hope they start going down again soon.

Reminds me of the Jim Morrison line... the future's uncertain and the end is always near...
Let it roll baby roll?

"Good news, good news, really good news, not bad news, better than predicted news by a factor of 10, more good news.

some of us are pissed off at how this thing was grossly exaggerated for the purpose of exploiting and weaponizing it against Trump and non-Dems for political purposes
That's your conspiracy theory, motivated solely by fear that it might actually affect the election.
But guess what...even if it WAS "weaponized" or used for political purposes, I say: What's good for the goose...
Serves you right for supporting the filth currently occupying the White House, which has zero moral compass and certainly no place to whine about anyone's political tactics.

And if you don't get your news from the (alleged) left wing sources (CNN, WaPo, etc.) then I guess that leaves you with Facebook, Breitbart, and InfoWars, huh? :-)
As for conservatives being open-minded in their receptivity to a broad spectrum of viewpoints and news sources, I think we can safely call bullshite on that. Authoritarian personalities make up a large percentage of Trump's base.

You're the kind of a-hole that would throw his mother under the bus because she disrespected your wife's boyfriend.

Do what? Fox has a far wider spectrum of viewpoints than either CNN,NBC or MSNBC...it's really not even up for debate.
I watched a "panel" discussion on CNN that 7 "panelists" that were all nodding in argument regarding their hatred of Trump and every single on of them believed the Russian/collusion conspiracy theory that has now been completely debunked.

I actually watch and read more leftwingers than anything on the right. While I spend a lot of time in the Wall Street Journal because of my job, I actually read more NYT for news.
But honestly, I get more in depth insight on what's really going on from guys like Joe Rogan, Tim Pool, and Jimmy Dore, and haven't touched any of the bullshite cliche nonsense you idiot Lefties use in your generic insults.
I'd recommend you go binge-watch their YT channels, but I know you'd come away outraged that they are open-minded Liberals/Progressives who have stepped out of the Leftwing echo-chamber and shite on many of your warped incorrect beliefs.
"Liberal Uncle-Toms" is what I'd suspect you'd call them. Or, you'd stupidly call them "Alt-Right!", because you're a fricking moron.
You're exactly the kind of dickhead Lefty that would tell a black conservative they aren't black because they aren't a Democrat. Or at the very least, I know you would secretly inside be appalled at them for "stepping out of line".

It looks pretty flat to me for the entire month of May (use the 14 day average).
Even the 7 day average is flat for the month considering the dip at the mid month with the rebound back to where the month started.
I guess I'm confused to what part of this is newsworthy. Nothing has changed for May. May 1 was good enough to open up. At the end if May, it is the same.
Maybe they know something about June that we don't know about?

Bro, that story is 5 days old, and "updated" 2 days ago. DPH released a dump of 400 previously unreported hospitalizations over May 16 and 17 (after underreporting only 12 new hospitalizations may 10-11.)
Therefore, a May 23 moving average still includes the over-reported days of May 16 and 17 but the underreported days of May 10 and 11 drop from the average. Therefore, it looks lke an artificial spike. It's not real.

It isn't over. People are still getting sick and dying. I always worry about worst case scenarios. I never worry about being wrong--that's what I'm hoping for.
1,523 new US deaths have been reported today.
