Wow sorry Jefferson had to listen to a few podcasts and rewatch another time to truly wrap my head around that final scene. One of the most brutal deaths we have seen in this breaking bad/ Saul universe. Worse than Jane, Hank, or Jesse’s girlfriend by Todd. Howard’s character started off as a villain in the first season but as Saul and Kim continue to beat him down I started to like him more and more. It’s wild how it all went down and amazing how quickly he put the plan all together while talking to Cliff. Only Cliff knows of this theory he has so when he turns up dead what dominos are going to fall. On Talking Saul they said this was the point where everything goes off the rails and we really start seeing how Jimmy turns into the sleazy, cowardly lawyer we see in Breaking Bad.
In Breaking Bad, Saul’s solutions to every problem is just killing the person. He suggests killing Badger and Jesse to Walter. So to cover up the death of Howard who else will fall to Saul and Kim? Chuck died and Howard died knowing who Jimmy/Saul really is as a person. To cover their tracks, if they get away from Lalo, we know Saul does, but what about Kim? Will they have to kill the film crew? They know the plan. Will Cliff fall in their crosshairs?
Where is Mike? Would he not go to Kim and Jimmy to warn them that Lalo has returned? I know all hands are on deck to protect Gus, but you would think Mike should be still keeping an eye on them.
They said this wasn’t intended for as a cliffhanger, but damn it sure has us questioning everything that’s about to happen. This show would be so much better to binge watch and I envy the people that can watch it that way. But great writing and can’t wait to see what the next 6 hours of Better Call Saul has to offer!

I saw on a Youtube comment someone predicted Howard would get caught in the Lalo crosshairs and die and it turned out true. It seems like the show will keep making a dark turn like Breaking Bad did towards the end. Maybe Jessie is the only one that makes it out with a happy ending. It seems the writers were setting it up so Kim will deserve the terrible demise coming her way. I am hoping for a Kim and Jimmy reunion post-breaking bad timeline, but somehow I don't see this ending happily.

So I finally caught up I was 2 seasons behind. So I binged 5 (since the finally put it on Netflix) and watched up to this episode. I like to binge watch just sign of the times I guess. I did that with breaking bad I didn’t really start watching it until the last season because everyone was talking about it so I binged from season 1 episode 1 (lots of late nights as I was hooked) until the last four episodes remaining and I had to do the wait a week thing drove me nuts

Anyway hooked on Saul now binged 1.5 seasons in a week
Now have to wait over a month to get one episode at a time :-(

I never saw any episode of Breaking Bad until the series was over then for two months I watched one episode every night. I did the same thing for Twin Peaks which I enjoyed even more than Breaking Bad.

with where we are now in the story there's not a whole lot of feel good storylines we could have. We know what happens to jimmy because of BB obviously. We dont' know what happens to kim but she aint around in BB so probably nothing great. Howard is already gone. With gus and Mike seemingly not all that concerned abotu their day to day life in regards to the salamancas in BB timeline it sure feels like lalo is nearing an end as well. There's a lot to happen in only a handful of episodes but I'm pumped fo rit

I'm not only becuase it would feel cheap and forced. Kim Wexler isn't mentioned a single time in BB nor does saul even make veiled references liek "well there's a special someone out there, somewhere, that I've left...". None of that. So for her to reunite with him post-vacuuming would jsut feel wrong.

The biggest thing I've been wanting to see for 6 friggin years is waht happens with GEne dammit! I can't wait to see where that storyline ends up.

That's a good point. I think Kim and Jimmie's relationship is completely severed in order to keep in sync with the BB series of events. Very doubtful there is any happy ending.

It goes back to what JD has been pointing out, they have made Kim completely unlikeable at this point, in a variety of ways, whereas in previous seasons she was the most likeable person on the show. I suspect they are doing it to make us less pissed off when they kill her. Why else would they nose dive her character like this?

At this point, if she doesn't die, I will be pissed.

Kill that bitch.

I predicted that in this very thread.

I thought it would be an execution in the desert with the report of the gunshot echoing off ancient New Mexico rock formations before fade to black and roll credits. But the executioner ended up using a suppressor.

The interesting thing here is if it will continue with the moment the last episode ended , and everything that goes into hiding a body. Or if they will time jump.

I think they will punk out and time jump

New teasers for second half of season are out

There’s one showing a closeup of the blood splattered candle that flickered as Howard/Lalo entered the yuppie beehive condo. With Kim reciting some kind of lawyer pledge of allegiance or Hippocratic oath. And there’s one of the underground lab construction site with Mike mumbling something about “What are we gonna do with you?”

My bet is the Kim pledge of lawyer allegiance will be from a flash back scene, maybe to open the next episode, where she is sworn in as a lawyer in the past to hammer home how far she’s fallen from bright eyed and bushy tailed law idealist.
And I bet the super lab Mike teaser is a deception , like almost all their teasers are. I think it’s going to be dialogue from Mike being called in to dispose of Howard’s corpse.
“Now, what are we gonna do with you?” And then Howard gets buried in the super lab

Six episodes left

New teaser released of Saul/Gene mustering his manhood and threatening someone.

Whatever.

Here is my final prediction of Jimmy/Saul/ Gene's fate:

-Live By The Sword, Die By The Sword
-yep. Walt was unconscionable murderer. Got Murdered
-Gus was murdering piece of shite. Got murdered
-Nacho. Same
-Mike. Same
-etc etc etc

-Jessie was the young loser who's young loserness got him caught up in things, so he gets a second chance at freedom

-but what is Saul's sword??

-A: The Law

-So he goes to jail for life

-as for Kim, who cares? I hate that bitch

Theres also a new one from the black and white Gene timeline. Complete with a fake-out about a recast of the post BB cab driver.

The teasers are almost always red herring misdirects, but I think cumulatively for part 2, they promise what most people want. Which is Breaking Bad timeline melters and Omaho chaos. Im psyched.

yeah this writing team doesn't strike me as the type to think "well the audience thinks so and so, but we want to be edgy and outrageous, so we're going to do the opposite just to show what geniuses we are". Breaking bad had already established itself as an alltime great after 4 seasons, and it's debatable if season 5 maybe slipped just a touch but they stuck the landing (imo) which considering the stratospherically high expectations for it is pretty incredible.

BCS has delivered every step of the way so I have no doubt these guys will know exactly how to tie it up beautifully. Really at this point I am most excited for Gene. It's crazy that in 6 seasons of this show we've only really gotten a couple minutes worth of Gene's story.

Geniuses always begin with the end in mind.

Season 1
Episode 1
Scene 1

Gene in black and white at Cinnabon

No dialogue

Only a song with lyrics-

I should have known there would be a day when you'd be gone

From the place of your birth to the ends of the earth I've searched only to find...

Only to find .....

[whats the next lyric?]

I thought so too. Except that having listened to a few of the BCS INsider podcasts with the writers and creators etc, it was shocking to learn how little they think past each episode and each season outside of very basic general terms.

For instance, Jessie Pinkman was originally supposed to be killed off after a couple episodes in BB. BUt they saw the potential in the actor and relationship with Walt, that they changed the whole story. And the Mike Ermentraut character when it debuted in BB was only because Odenkirk as Saul was suppose to clean up the mess after Jessie's girlfriend choked out on heroine vomit, but he had a scheduling conflict with another acting job, and so they created the character of Mike. And it was so good, they wrote him into the story and he got to be part of the prequel.

They literally make the shite up as they go for the most part and throw situations out there where they will deal with how it workds out later. MOst of the time it works, but when you realize this is how they are operating, you can see many times when it didn't. Like that whole awkward out of place thing with the plane crash in BB. I think they wrote themselves into a corner on that one and had to scramble

The other thing I never realized is how frantically rushed these productions are. When we started watching the first few episodes of season 6 a few weeks ago, these final few episodes didn't even exist yet.

They'd been filmed. But only very recently was the rest of the season edited and scored and put together, visual effects etc. its pretty crazy deadlines they are under

New final part 2 teaser out…

Black and white scenes of familiar but empty BCS haunts with sad music about goodbyes

Then. Bam. It ends IN FULL COLOR with Saul in the Trump-esque mansion closet trying on shirts in front of the mirror outlined with golden line maze endings. Exciting times
