Did you ever steal a pitcher of beer from Bling Pig on Sundays?
no because I'm not a degenerate.
I do however still have my plastic blind pig mug dated 2006. You bought it once for whatever regular price it was, then they had a lifetime agreement where you could bring it with you and fill it with PBR for $1.

I lived there a few Summers. O’Malley’s was an easy walk and they had all you can drink nights. Maybe Monday?

They definitely had penny pitchers on Sundays for a time while I was there. They might also have done sink or swim nights, too. It was either them, or Lowery's, if memory serves.

fun trivia: After O'Malleys eventually turned into Dial America, and then that one subsequently went under...it was then purchased and briefly lived in by Brantley Gilbert. This would have been circa 2008 or 2009. Literally, he just lived in the giant open warehouse space.

When I was in my second tour the place next to Flying Buffalo had Wednesday all you can drink if I recall. That was in Mid/Late 80s. it’s all a blur now.

O'Malley's had drink and drown on Wednesday nights when I was a student in the early 90s. You drank free until someone went to the bathroom or left. Needless to say, the football team lined up just outside the restrooms and inside the exit doors. They also had nickel night well drinks on Thursdays (their big party night). I got hammered for a dollar many a Thursday evening.
ETA: What complex was at Atlanta Hwy and Alps Rd? I lived there a couple of summers but cannot remember the name of them to save my life.

Was that Le Chateau?

I thought that was at Epps Bridge and West Broad.

Might have been; I remembered it as being out by the Kmart or whatever on the way to the mall, but that was 30-odd years ago, so I may well be wrong.

He didn't release his first album until 2009 (under an indie label ran by Colt Ford) and was living in Nashville. How could he have afforded to buy that building, and also live in it, when he was also living and working in Nashville?

I keep thinking Riverbend or something like that. My girlfriend at the time lived in the complex now known as Arches on the Lake right next to the golf course when they were built in the early 90s. Those are on Riverbend Rd.
The ones I’m trying to remember were about where the Hilltop Grille is now.

I said circa motherfricker! Maybe it was 2007, who knows. It was definitely after 2006 and likely before 2010. Maybe he was starting to get some cash from writing songs, idfk.
At this time I was buddies with a guy from Jefferson who grew up with BG. One night after the bars my friend invited a group of us back to that dial america building to hang out with bg (who I'd never heard of at the time) so I witnessed this first hand. Not 2nd or 3rd..saw with my own eyes. I suppose it's possible he covertly snuck in furniture, a bed, etc. and was living there as a squatter. all I'm relaying is waht I saw with my own eyes.
ETA: the building sold in 1996 to a group of dudes who owned it until 2008 where it was then sold to UGA. It would appear he either rented it briefly, or knew one of the owners and just lived there for free. College kids don't always have all the info so it would appear that he did not in fact buy/own the place. I'm 100% certain he resided there, however briefly.

I had fun in La Shithole too.
A lot of the area by Rivermill is not recognizable from what it was like in the 80s. Empty warehouses and stuff like that in that area back then.

After leaving 3 years of River Mill my next brief stop was Mi Casa lol. Only lasted there one semester though. Definitely didn't live in some of the nicer apartments.

O’Malleys was my first official bat beer as an enrolled student. Also same night took home some girl with bug eyes that I ran into weekly for years.

I think my first official college drink was at Fred di Toronto's or whatever it was called (pizza restaurant upstairs, small bar and stage downstairs). I can still remember the name of the band playing that night - The Stonesouls. Also, my roommate got so hammered that night that he threw up still-cold beer all over everyone in the car on the way home. Good times!

Hit him up on Instagram and ask him. I would do it myself but I don't have Instagram.
