quote:

The reporter had to get the information about the gravel pit from somewhere.

The report is possibly mistaken. The fact that cadaver dogs alerted in the quarry and the fact that burned human bones were found there also argues against a mistake.

You are applying after-the-fact information to at-the-time information, regarding a small town newspaper article on a deadline to the printing press.

Your sentence makes no sense.

The fact that burned human bones bearing cut marks were discovered in the quarry supports the contention that, at some point, the Rav4 was there as well.

It is possible, but unlikely, that some other dismembered person was burned in that quarry. If the bones belonged to Halbach, most likely her body was transported there in her car.

It's a fact that the quarry was a crime scene. That fact was not revealed to Avery's jury.

The article doesn't mention the quarry. It mentions the "pit". Avery is quoted in the article saying the "pit" is part of his property.

Did you read the article?

There is no gravel pit on Avery Salvage yard. There is no gravel in the area where the Rav4 was planted on Avery Salvage Yard property. Gravel is in two quarries South of Avery Salvage Yard.

The first report from Sheriff Peterson was that the Rav4 was found in a gravel pit. At some point the Rav4 was planted on Avery Salvage Yard. Steven Avery was talking about were the Rav4 was "found" after it had been moved, possibly from the quarry.

You are saying that a reporter couldn't have mixed up some words in a frenzy to make deadline? Contrary to what you've seen on TV and in movies, newspaper reporters don't spend days or even weeks working on a story and checking their facts. They are actually grinding out a dozen a day while sucking down shite coffee and chain smoking. Then their editors chop it all up to make it fit exactly in the alotted inches of the physical paper. Then someone totally different writes the headline. The simple fact the word "gravel" made it into the story is meaningless, especially in the face of the fact Avery referred to "the pit" as part of his own property in the same story, toward the end.

It's possible that two different reporters just happened to make the same mistake.

It's also possible that the Rav4 was found twice--initially in the gravel quarry near ASY before being planted on ASY property closer to Steven Avery.

Yes, possible.

What Im taking exception with is your bombshell attitude about the article.

There are a some blockbusters that destroy the state's case but those newspaper articles don't reach that magnitude.

The state's case is devastated by forensic examinations of the bullet, the Rav4 key, the novelty handcuffs and the swab from the hood latch.

The finding of burned human quarry bones bearing cut marks long with the state's illegal destruction of that evidence is the biggest problem for the state. It has reached the point that even local Wisconsin newspapers are filing stories.

I knew enough about the O.J. trial to win a $100 bet from my boss on the verdict. I was hoping to get a bigger bet.

I'm sure that there were people on O.J.'s jury who knew that he was guilty. They should have stood firm. My bet proves that I thought they would be unable to hold out.

I finally finished the 2nd part.

Some of manotowac's finest (including the old DA Kratz) have a nice spot in hell waiting for them.

I thought Avery was guilty after the first season. Guilty or not, he didn't get justice. The manipulation of DNA and fact was disgusting.
