Tackling, too many thuds and out of control lunges at the QB.... wrap the frick up. Don't try to destroy the QB, make yourself wide, get those arms spread out and come in with control. Same in the secondary.. wrap up, wrap up, wrap up.

The tackling was atrocious. Baffling with these horses

Not a popular opinion probably but KJB had one of his worst games. A lot of Willie Martinez tackle efforts

I disagree. He had several game changing plays throughout the game. He chased down what would have been a TD by an Alabama RB, key Sack on Russell, & locked down the middle of the field. While tackling was not great, we all know we can tackle better and will going forward. Kirby’s message was physical. We wanted to hit and inflict damage.

Appeared to me there was more effort to strip balls that led to fewer wrap ups.

The tackling from a few players was pretty bad last night

The secondary however played one of its best games in Kirbys entire tenure in terms of coverage though.

We played A LOT of man free coverage and played most of the game with 5 DBs in the game at all times. Demelo, Ellis, Bolden, and Barnes all had extremely good games in man coverage they were almost always in position and in step with their man and Chris Cole also had an excellent game in man coverage

Jones had two pass defended against
Bolden had one
Barnes had one
Cole had two
Ellis had zero but was targeted by far the least only being attacked two times all game when in man coverage

Bolden also had .5 a sack with 7 total tackles
Dinkins had 7 tackles
Barnes had 5 tackles with 1 TFL
Ellis had 4 tackles and was sent on a blitz twice both times getting home accounting for 2 pressures

The only two players with more tackles than all of those secondary guys were Chris Cole who had 8 tackles 2.5 TFL and 1 sack and Raylin Wilson who led the team with 9 tackles , so the two linebackers who were always on the field.

This means since we were playing mostly man coverage whenever their receivers made catches they were usually tackled immediately by our corners or safety playing them in man. The only time our defensive backs missed tackles or allowed a broken tackle was in run support

Yeah, yeah, fundamentals may win games, but big shoulder hits make you look cool, and isn't that what's really important?
