Old Story - The time Dell McGee banned UGA from Carver High School

This is an old ESPN article from 2009.
When the Georgia Bulldogs decided to back out of their scholarship offer to Carver (Ga.) High School
quarterback Devin Burns, they didn't cut off their relationship with just him.
They find themselves banned from stepping on the Carver campus, as well.
Burns, accompanied by his family, had traveled to Athens last weekend with the intention of formally committing to the Bulldogs after receiving a scholarship offer from coach Mark Richt and quarterbacks coach Mike Bobo this spring.
But while he was on the trip, the Bulldogs -- who apparently knew of Burns' travel plans -- had decided to withdraw the offer.
Carver coach Dell McGee, upset with the timing, has since informed the Georgia coaching staff that for now, it was not welcome to visit the school, located by the Alabama border.
"I say that to show them that the incident that occurred wasn't appreciated," McGee said, according to the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer. "The biggest thing is, the University of Georgia knew, they had knowledge of Devin and his parents coming there for the weekend. For them not to communicate that they had rescinded that offer before that was not very professional."
The story was first reported by Georgia High School Football Daily, an e-mail newsletter.
A Georgia assistant coach was the one who ended up breaking the news to Burns, a 6-2, 180-pound senior.
"I talked to my parents and my coaches about it, and I just got over it," Burns said told the Ledger-Enquirer. "My parents raised me to be able to deal with things like this."
McGee acknowledged that the ban does not mean there will be no communication between the schools. The coach said he would not prevent his players from visiting or talking with Georgia.
"Rescinding a scholarship is not uncommon; that's not my problem," McGee told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "It's really about how the situation was handled. It's the manner in which it was done."
McGee said that Richt called to apologize, but McGee is standing firm.
"He apologized and said they didn't handle it well," McGee told the Athens Banner-Herald. "It was just a bad job on their part. They were sorry. He understood my stance in regards to them not recruiting my school and us not allowing them to come into our school to see our kids."
Carver defensive end Corey Crawford, who also was ready to commit to Georgia, has had a change of heart after the Burns incident. McGee said he is looking at other schools now.
It is not known how the Georgia incident will affect the recruiting otherwise. Carver, which won the state Class AAA title in 2007, had eight players sign with colleges in February, and has a number of Division I prospects in the class of 2010.
I'm not sure how I stumbled on this, but I found it interesting because McGee is now our RB coach. Does anyone know why we withdrew the offer? It seemed very sleazy on our part and not something Richt would do.

After doing some very brief research, he didn't seem very good. He barely even saw the field at Maryland. Sometimes kids digress to the point where you can't give them a scholarship any longer. It's shitty, but it also isn't fair to kids more worthy of that scholarship.
Clearly Dell got over whatever happened

247 link: 2009 recruiting class
Here is the 2009 recruiting class.
Dell is a players coach. He was sticking up for his player. He did the right thing.

Generally believe something else happened and they fell on their sword to protect the kid. Richt was anything but cut throat.

It seems that our job offer overwhelmed his integrity.

Bridge was repaired by 2011.

If I remember correctly, McGee also said that he did everything he could to steer Crowell away from UGA after he got into trouble. 'Course, I may be mistaken. It's been a while, and I'm getting old.

I dont know about "did everything he could". That may be strong.
But there was an, "i told you so".
The way that AJ green was debacled by UGA was a reason to have no faith in the administration.
And the ACCPD had held up their reputation over the years.

ACCPD....
That's probably the biggest reason McGee tried to steer Crowell away from UGA.
