Off-season topic: classic threads. This one belongs to GoldenDawg

As with many of my topics, this one may die on the vine because not many people waste their time reading old threads. But GoldenDawg did a very nice job of trolling our few Tech visitors in the opening weekend of 2014. The topic was how StingTalk responded while watching our game against Clemson, which we won 45-21. UGA had 328 rushing yards, led by Todd Gurley with 15 carries for 198 yds.
We ended up losing to GT that year, 30-24 in OT, after Gurley's season ended a couple of weeks earlier due to a torn ACL against Auburn, which proves you can't read too much into individual games. That hindsight doesn't make the thread any less enjoyable to me. Football outcomes, like everything else, are ruled by probabilities. They've beaten us once since then, in 2016. Nevertheless, part of the fun of modern cfb is reading the reactions of fans on the internet. From that perspective, opening weekend is some of the best reading of the year.

They were kind enough to bring back their board (ie - paid the bills) and provide a Georgia-Clemson game thread. Here are some highlights:

StingTalk and VolNation have some of the best melts in the known world.

I think Stingtalk makes you become a member now to be able to read their melts. I tried to look at threads after they lost their Regional and it kept telling me I had to be a member to view the threads.

And I’m 99% sure that’s because of Georgia fans screencaping or copy/pasting their melts over the years, which is funny

That 2022 Tennessee game might just be the most thoroughly enjoyable game in the Kirby era.
No, it wasn’t an SEC or national championship, or a playoff or bowl win, but mudstomping that arrogant-arse fanbase in what is likely the loudest atmosphere Sanford Stadium has ever produced and sending their national championship hopes spiraling away was about as satisfying as it got.
The memory of soggy pizza boxes and wet hats flying through the air after Hooker got sacked AGAIN will stay with me a long time

I was at the 2003 LSU game and many LSU fans will recall a specific sequence. They were up 10-3 late in the game when we hit Tyson Browning for a 93 yard TD to tie it up. You'd think the wind would be out of their sails btu it was jus the opposite, it seemed to invigorate the crowd. They started chanting and worked themselves into a later almost like it was the opening kickoff. They would score on the next possession (I think it was the next one) to win it.
I mention that because the 4th quarter rain against UT reminded me of that. We were in control of the game and probably weren't in danger of losing, but UT did have the ball and were driving and were fairly deep in our territory. A TD there and buttholes get a bit tight. It started raining which typically may deflate a crowd, but not ours on that day. THe rain gave people more energy and that sequence was unlike any I've ever seen at Sanford. With each new sack the crowed got louder and louder and it felt like UT was in one of those dreams where you're in quicksand and everyone else is in normal speed.
I just looked at the play by play. We had just fumbled and they had the ball and were driving. We commit a penalty to give UT a 1st down at our 30, and then...
-Run for 3 yards
-Sack for 5 yard loss
-False Start
-Sack for 6 yard loss
-False Start
-Sack for 3 yard loss (penalty gives UT 1st down and 15 yards up to our 23 yard line)
-Run for 4 yards
-Incomplete pass
-Sack for 4 yard loss
-Incomplete, turnover on downs
I was nervous as hell before that game because UT had rightfully earned their lofty ranking due to a massacre of LSU in baton rouge and a win over bama, but we utterly and thoroughly destroyed them that day. One of kirby's best.

Are you sure it wasn't the subsequent 50 yard kickoff return that ignited their crowd?

considering this was happening in the TV timeout in between our PAT and the kickoff when nothing was actually happening on the field, yes.

I was in Red Stick for that game as well. Wore my red and black in the LSU player family section too (got LOTS of strange/angry looks).
The Browning TD came right to me and I had a great view of the winner for LSU. One of our defenders absolutely crushed the LSU QB about .001 seconds after he let the throw go. Was demoralizing as hell for sure.
