First, I am not trying to call you out and/or create a unwanted debate by yours truly. But....
Indiana, who obviously won the latest NC, had zero arrests during the 2025-2026 football season. So yes, teams can recruit at a high level and still have good team discipline.
But yes, given Indiana's history, their NC might well be a fluke but given the apparent high quality of Coach Cignetti's recruiting and coaching, I would guess that they will at least remain competitive at a high level.

I can't tell if you're being deliberately obtuse or you're just obtuse, so I'll try one more time.

Zero arrests does not equal good team discipline.
UGA has more arrests than other SEC teams does not equal UGA employs less discipline than other SEC teams.

Do you know why those two statements are obviously true? Because an arrest is tangible evidence of discipline being applied. Few arrests or zero arrests suggests that discipline is lax. The alternative you've suggested is that other schools don't need legal discipline because they've discovered some way to undo countless millenia of aggressive young male behavior, and Kirby just doesn't care enough to try. Or other schools recruit the good kids and Kirby has lax standards, only cares about winning. To me, those sound like intentional insults aimed directly at Kirby Smart by people who would like to see Kirby Smart gone. Anyone who uses those arguments is a troll IMO, including you and your panel of experts on the SEC rant.

What's actually happening is lack of discipline, or "internal" discipline that's kept out of the media. This is not just idle speculation, it's based on a long period of observation, like multiple decades.

I literally do not personally know anyone who has been arrested for speeding or expired license or expired tag or expired insurance. I know a number of people who were pulled over for that, including me. I got a ticket or a warning. I was not arrested. What would this narrative sound like if these guys all got pulled over, written up, and not arrested ?

How many speeding tickets did the Indiana team get? Who knows, because it is not news unless they get arrested.

I know exactly what you're saying, and I can't disagree but I'll refrain from drawing conclusions because I don't have direct evidence that players are being singled out. I have seen plenty of UGA football arrests over the years that left me scratching my head. Like walking on the sidewalk with a beer in hand (you think they're gonna start hitting the tailgates any time soon?). Or "emerging from an alley", or "passing on the right" (with a moped when the other car was stopped to make a left turn). Or popping fireworks on July 4th. Or shooting red solo cups with a BB gun. Or smoking a joint in a dorm room. When I was at UGA, you could smell it from the street every day. Cops weren't hauling people off to jail.

Nevertheless, I don't need that argument to know that, whether it's good or bad, UGA/Athens is operating with tougher disciplinary standards for football players, not lax standards as Girly Girl suggests.

I was pulled over for doing 90 on I75. I took off my sunglasses, had my license ready, hand on the wheel, and said yes sir this and yes sir that. I got a ticket and that was it.

I had a friend get arrested in Gwinnett for not having a license and insurance. He was going through a rough spot (his wife had just left him and he was practically living out of his car). He was dirty, unkempt, and pissed off at the world which was probably what cause the officers to arrest him.

I'm not one to play the race card lightly, but what's the difference between a clean, polite, middle aged white guy getting pulled over 2 black guys getting pullled over for pretty much the same thing?

But why does it seem to happen on or near the Loop or 316 a lot more than Tuscaloosa? Are Bama players driving their fast cars the speed limit? Are they getting pulled over and getting tickets but not arrested?

And are y’all gonna tell me Kirby Smart is less disciplined than the rest of the SEC coaches?

Remember when Auburn hired off duty cops to follow their players around town and keep them out of trouble. That's a good way to keep players from getting arrested; pay cops overtime to make sure they don't get arrested. As I recall it was very effective at reducing the arrest rate. Girly Girl calls that good team discipline.

Story that Nick told himself he rode with a player to Birmingham for something and had a State Patrolman try and pull them over for speeding and he made one call and the trooper ended pursuit....

It's has gone over your head, the point is some College towns are so small that their is no officer to catch them while other large cities have bigger problems than traffic enforcement.

It also has to do with how the law works outside of Georgia, who tends to have more aggressive policies about arrest versus summons.

Not really, it’s pretty obvious at this point that it’s an ongoing issue in Athens and some seem to think it’s an over policing problem? From what I read both players were pulled over by the same cop, has racing written all over to me.

I agree and I don't think UGA administrators are comparing law enforcement in the Athens with that at other universities in an effort to rationalize law violations especially after the tragic deaths in 2023 due to racing and the subsequent lawsuits.

Some people don’t have the IQ to understand that the environment in the Athens area, including police, the local govts and roads contribute to these stops occurring, arrests being made and arrests being reported. They also can’t understand that explaining why it happens in Athens and not the other SEC and large program towns, is not in any way condoning it. They are simple people.

I get things get swept under the rug in Tuscaloosa, Miami, and other places, and I also think the Walmart incident was BS. But someone died in the football program doing exactly what Cole and the other player were doing the night they were arrested. It seems some people forget that and their minds are too simple to understand that. Also it has turned into a public safety issue at this point. But I guess since they are football players they are suppose to let this slide by all the time?
