Why are some posters trying to make our beat writers out to be a villain in this situation then?
Help me understand.
Marc Weicszczszczser is absolutely a villain on the UGA beat.
If the UGA beat writers simply ignored a story, even if the arrest is of public record, nobody would know about it. Alabama beat writers aren't getting calls from the ACC PD or courthouse. Auburn, Florida, et al, aren't getting calls from the ACC PD or courthouse. If the UGA beat reporters weren't reporting on it, nobody would know.
I'll take a random school like Oklahoma. The OK beat writers may hear/know of something negative that happened, but they don't headline it.
UGA beat writers, especially Marc Weisczczdcer, absolutely run for it. And are hunting it.

Some real count UGA has leaching off the program in the name of journalism, what ever that is today. AJC has long history of Dildoes over reporting....
frick them and the horse they rode in on.

If you too think that beat writers at other programs aren't reporting about football players getting arrested, then you too are too are kooky in the head.

I'm old too, but I still remember what it was like to be young and irresponsible. Being rebellious was like a rite of passage. Young men and fast cars were kind of synonymous. It was dumb and dangerous, but it was also exhilarating and felt like freedom. I'm not condoning it, just pointing out that this behavior is nothing new, including for UGA football players. Paychecks don't shortcut the path to maturity.

I don't know what Peter Buck meant, but you seem to be quite opinionated on this subject. Disagreement is a cheap way of implying something without actually saying it. Instead of telling us what you don't believe, tell us what you do believe. Why does UGA seemingly have more arrests for driving violations than some other football programs that surround us? Be specific if you don't mind, so we can understand what you're trying to say.
Reckless behavior has been associated with young males forever, including reckless driving since autos became widely available. Parents have been trying, and failing, to tame those wild spirits since the beginning of time. If you know the solution, or know someone who appears to have solved the problem, tell us about it.

UGA has the combination of roads you can drive fast on (loop/316), police officers who, since even my time there for whatever reason loved to frick with football players, and a local media that does not miss an opportunity to report on a football player speeding or farting in the library.

I agree with most, maybe all of that. When it comes to ACCPD, they may intentionally frick with football players, I don't have specific knowledge about that. They also may be generally more aggressive in traffic enforcement than some other places. From closely following other teams over the years, I'm virtually certain of one thing; ACC/UGA PD are less likely to show football players favoritism than any other college town in the SEC.
When it comes to reporting, some media orgs covering UGA football are unusually obsessive about investigating behavioral issues and law enforcement handling thereof. They've made it clear from time to time that they're not above using aggressive tactics to uncover problems or favoritism. They've also made it clear that they're not above blurring the lines between fact and innuendo. Over the last 25 years, at times I've seen anti-UGA rhetoric from "our" media that rivals trash talk on the SEC rant.

I asked a question. I didn't make a statement.
I don't know what the actual stats are for UGA comparatively.

In a lot of cases they get favoritism and when it comes to many local police departments in College towns they do, but they damn sure do not in Athens. In fact, it is the opposite.
Posted on 2/21/26 at 6:31 pm to Peter Buck
They shouldn’t get favoritism but they also shouldnt get kicked off the team for stupid teenage stuff. Speeding, getting in a fight, being drunk, etc. That’s personal.
Anything sexual or something egregious is a different matter. They should also build some conduct clauses into their NIL to give it teeth.

I’m with you Captain
Theres a syndicate on here that will use this as a time to reflect on the cool dude time they drove fast on such n such road with such n such song blasting as if it’s a rite of passage. As women peeled off their panties. And THEY BUCKED THE SYSTEM
When it’s literally the most base low iq embellishment there is. Just look at the morons driving like that around you. (I see neck tats and earring spacers, but no hot women. And also spoilers on front wheel drives)
The disrespect for Kirby Smart should be the issue front and center here. Not apologies for entitled low iq cavemen and blaming the cop that pulled them over

Dallas, and now you apparently, are done with the program and institution despite the other 100 players who did not do stupid shite and get arrested.
