New line coach Rob Sale couldn’t ask for a better way to begin his tenure in Athens. This unit allowed only 12 sacks in SEC games and excelled in run blocking by clearing lanes for rushers to average 6.0 yards per carry. All-SEC center David Andrews will be missed, but Sale’s group is set with the return of rising star Greg Pyke at guard, along with the standout tackle duo of John Theus and Kolton Houston. Brandon Kublanow is the favorite to replace Andrews at center.

Rob Sale was probably the worst hire Richt made at UGA.

That was my #2 option. I went with schotty because Martinez wasn't a bad position coach, just a terrible DC.

Martinez went with a wholesale philosophy change after getting pantsed by RichRod. He seemed to like smaller linebackers that were fast but couldn't hold up well against power run games, and that was a direct result of watching White and Slaton run circles around his defense.
Turns out White and Slaton did that to a lot of people.

quote:Both were pretty terrible, but he took over what was supposed to be one of the best units in the country and somehow made them seem like ghosts of their former selves. Could have been scheme, but I don't think I have ever seen a group regress any than OL from 2014 to 2015. Schittenheimer probably looked so bad because of the horrible OL we had this year. He might have looked like a half decent OC if the QB he sent out there had half the time Hutson Mason did last year... Anyways... Glad they're both gone.

Mason didn't have a ton of time.
Mason knew what he wanted to do presnap and he got rid of the ball in under 3 seconds. If he wasn't comfortable with the look, he threw it out of bounds.
Mason's protection was about getting rid of the ball quickly (he was a great spread qb in HS).
Lambert isn't good presnap. And he isn't good getting through progressions.
