That's on you, my man. We're 3-1 in them and it's one of our two primary colors.

Did I attribute it to you? It’s my opinion. Your opinion ...that’s on you.

Must be hard to think about our red jerseys then, after the 2015 game. Or our white jerseys after Auburn last year.

I am more worried about it giving our opponent extra motivation. I love the blackout though...

I don't think Kirby would let the guys get one-upped like that. Maybe I'm being exceptionally optimistic.

Thing is that these days every team and their brothers have alternates. UT had their Smokey grays, FSU trotted out their black unis to open the year, Ohio state and Oklahoma have regularly worn alternates, and so on. More then ever teams are fricking around with uniforms so I dont know if any opponent would take much motivation or aggravation if Georgia deemed they’d be wearing the black jerseys.

The fact we have a thread with this much banter is indicative of the fact that it’s only us as fans that think this much. And that’s not limited to Dawgs. GT fans are mixed on the Blues (half are pissed about wearing them Saturday to their funeral with Clemson), FSU fans were weird about their black jerseys, Notre Dame fans are weird about their green jerseys, etc.

Anyway, ideally I’d like to see them wear the black jerseys in November, maybe for just senior day as has been suggested. I’d also love to see the red pants as a one off. I’d also like to see an all white look with a white helmet. I also think they could go with a silver helmet once with the Block G. It’s fun to think about but I doubt it happens. Now that we’re winning more I don’t really care as much but it’d be fun to see.

They are in their proper place as of now...That is to say, in use at the Red and Black Game in April.

Those jerseys need to be burned. I hope I never see them again.

You want fashion, then go be an Oregon fan. Keep that shite out of Athens.

LMAO at all the downvotes. I'm not a superstitious guy about the black shirts. Alabama would have probably beaten us in 2008 if we were wearing pink tu-tus. They were a team on the rise...we were at the beginning of the end of the CMR era.

Right.....

So I think you're proving us "downvoters"' point.

It's funny. Many older folks that crap on the black jerseys and act like they're some insult to the program are the same ones that clamor for red pants on the road. Very odd.

Agreed. It has the added bonus of further cementing the idea that Tech is more in line with Southwest Directional State than a major program...

It was before my, and probably your time, but these guys want the Red pants but I’m pretty sure that we stopped wearing them because we lost in them too. Wanna say last time was 87 vs Clemson

We played in red pants for road games for 3 years, I think...1978-1980. I'm sure we lost a few playing in them. I believe you're correct about the last game we played in them being 1987 at Clemson...yep, we lost that game, too.

You misunderstand me. I don't care what they wear, as long as they win in it. I'm not a die-hard traditionalist, but I also don't want to see us turn into Oregon, either. Black is one of our primary colors, after all.

I just felt like it was always a 'fake juice' move with Richt.

Agree and disagree with this.

On the one hand, yes I can absolutely see the "fake juice" angle with Richt. I don't think it was fj with Auburn, that was one of the best atmospheres and experiences in sanford history. Don't think so with Hawaii either, everyone loved the shite out of them and it was more or less a reward for making the sugar bowl. The bama game yes I can see that, especially considering we moved all our chips in and painted the endzone letters black as well.

However, wearing one of our two primary colors as a top here and there in no way turns us into oregon. Like not even close. IMO the black is one of the sharpest looking uniforms in football, and it's one of our colors so it's not as arbitrary as some school like kenucky wearing black which seems odd to me.

The fans love it, they look great, and the recruits love the hell out of them, so I don't see any reason we can't bring them out once in a while. I've long been in favor of having a regular schedule kinda like LSU's purple (I think they wear them for home OOC games). If it was known in advance that removes any 'fake juice' connotations. Wear them the last regular season home game and call it a day. Or any night game in november or something.

I think the black jerseys are gone for good. At least until after Kirby’s reign has ended.

If you remember his first year, it was announced by McGarity that the black would be worn once per season at Kirby’s discretion. So Kirby picked Louisiana-Monroe or whatever cupcake to blackout and ordered zero hype about it.

Aka he hates that shite but held his nose and did it once, but made sure it wasn’t embraced.

Then in year two, you’ll remember there was never a black jersey game. He quietly got out of doing it somehow. And the school or anybody never mentioned why the new once per year black jersey tradition only lasted 1 year.

What’s weird though is you always see recruits getting pics in the black jersey during visits. So I wonder how Kirby squares it with them.... “Hey potentials UGA player, check out these nifty black jerseys I won’t allow the team to wear. Aren’t they rad?!”

I don’t get it.

I don't necessarily think they're done for good. In 2016 kirby said he wanted to bring them back for all the reasons already mentioned, which we did against a scrub which was fine. Last year I remember people kept asking "is this the week? is this the week?" but we were rolling along so well that kirby didn't want any distrcations, we didn't play a cupcake at home after Samford in week 3 (kentucky in november was a pretty solid team and IIRC that game decided the east).

It would not shock me in the slightest to see the black against UMass this year.
