Kroger's Grocery Pickup System is Garbage

Have yall had the same issues?
When they rolled it out a couple years ago, I anticipated problems, working kinks and bugs out, etc. I couldn't even make it through the ordering process, it was so shabby. I continued sitting on the sidelines.
Now they've revamped the system, alot more user friendly, supposedly real-time inventory.
So I get a cart put together. Some of the stuff isn't deliverable so I arrange pickup, well in advance.
They just text to tell me half of my list isn't available... not even a substitute.
So now I have to deal with this fricking pickup AND go to another grocery store, when I could have just gone to the store to begin with.
Order is non-cancellable.
I already lit up their customer service.
Now I'm lighting it up here.
Next I'm off to Facebook to light them up.
Assholes.

We had the same experience. The misses ordered everything, we show up at our scheduled time, only to sit there waiting another 30 minutes for what turned out to be less than half our order because they couldn't locate the rest. That was the last time.

It worked great until every Karen and chad decided they didn’t want to catch the rona inside the store. We always use it. The ordering system could use an overhaul. But I think they’re just woefully understaffed right now.

Did you tell them to have a shitty day like that time CVS couldn't ring up your 12 pack in a timely fashion?
But yeah, it sucks. I used it once before COVID even started, and it wasn't good then. I'm sure it's god awful now. May as well pay for one of those delivery services.

We use it.
All pickup services are the same right now.
We still like it because it is better than shopping in the store.
Unfortunately our solution to half orders is as follows:
Order more since you know that 1/2 to 1/4 of the order will be unavailable.
This has worked well. We haven't received more than we can freeze or refrigerate.
We've done pickup for Walmart to supplement what Kroger is missing.
We've done Costco delivery for the rest of the items.
All pickup services are the same right now.
We still like it because it is better than shopping in the store.

Get this.... I had a bottle of wine and a case of Bud Light.
They had the wine, but Bud Light was out, with no substitutes.
They are having me believe they have no miller light, coors light, regular budweiser, miller highlife, natural light, etc?
And their interface doesn't let you change your order without 24 hrs notice.
Total garbage.

My little lady does the order, so I may be mistaken. But we do add to the order up until the night before pickup.
They've done a bad job with notifying us of what they don't have prior to us picking up. But that's become the norm and we just over order to offset the shortage.
My in laws have had worse frustrations. They drove to Elijay for a Kroger pickup that wasn't ready (no notification ahead of time). The order then got pushed to the next day. They drove back to town the next day and well over half of the order was incomplete with no notification. They were very pissed and like you let someone hear about it.

Never used it but I've used instacart from Kroger and jt was great. I could put sub options in ahead of time and they texted me while shopping anytime an item wasn't there

My wife has used instacart from kroger and Publix and yes you can change shite on the fly but the produce is garbage like they intentionally find the shite that expires tomorrow, and I don't think they can do age-restricted items either.

I worked at Kroger a decade ago when I was in high school. I never loved it but it was tolerable. I'm not in GA, but where I am they stopped making their workers wear Kroger shirts and it's gone downhill from there. The place has turned into a total shite show, so I just go to Publix now.

I live in East Cobb and it had been wonderful. Sure they have to substitute sometimes but they have always done a good job and they let me know when something isn't available. They even call me to ask what I would like substituted. I haven't had to go inside the grocery store in about 2 months.

They did this to me a number of times in the last several weeks. If you go inside, you'll find that most of what you need is actually available or at least there's a good substitute.
There is some comedic irony in choosing to avoid COVID by having other people walk around touching all of your stuff before you receive it, though.

I found it to be great up until about a week after the official shelter in place was announced. At that point, at least for north metro area, almost everything that you would have in your order was listed as out of stock. For anything still in stock, it's still my favorite of the delivery services, but it's too damn hard to actually get everything you need.

Out of curiosity, what would you recommend to someone who falls in a high risk group... immunosuppressed or pregnant for example. Why is it comedic to select the option that exposes them to less risk in general.
1) Anything that comes un-refrigerated can be left to sit for 3-4 days before using it (if you plan your grocery orders in advance)
2) Things that are refrigerated/frozen can be washed before placing into their respective cold storage areas.
For any given grocery order, you can assume if you went to the store and picked it up, you'd be exposing yourself to a cashier and at least one stock person having touched most items within 24 hours of you purchasing them. Adding one person to the process is still a controllable variable given the ability to wash items and not get coughed/sneezed on in public.

Not at all referring to high risk people. I did/do a lot of shopping for some of those, so my first preference would be for someone else to do that for them.
That said, I rarely saw people in the age group of most concern doing this. Most were soccer moms. Of course, they can have non-obvious issues. It's still just funny. Mind you, I thought of this as I, myself, was doing the same thing.

Fair, except I only go to stores with self-checkout so I take the cashier straight out of the mix. I also pick off the back stock, not the first thing sitting on the front of the shelf. This is normal practice for me for things like milk anyway.

It's better one person touch the food i buy than walking past 25 people coughing and sneezing and touching everything in the store like the POS.
I just wash the groceries off with detergent, or if it's individual packages in a box, I dump the box, as the stuff inside the box hasn't been touched. If its something I won't use immediately I just let it sit for a couple days and anything on it is dead.
Then, get this, I wash my hands when I'm through. And I never even came on direct conteact with a single person.
It's not exactly rocket science.

Rig, holy shite it’s terrible. I keep telling my wife to stop doing it. The worst part is they lie about out of stock items if they’re too lazy to find it and then they substitute bullshite for other things they can’t find.

Where do y'all live that you're having such problems? I guess living in the Suburbs had its benefits. Maybe my Kroger just doesn't have a bunch of retards working there.
