Kirby's Development of Talent

This is my opinion, but I wanted to hear what you guys thought.
I feel like Kirby's talent development is average at best (especially on the defense).
IMO...I am not seeing us get the level of play out of the class ranking as expected. We have crazy depth and this past weekend against Florida I saw a team that was unprepared.
Where is the player development....Nolan Smith...Quay Walker....Tindall...Campbell...all this ridiculous talent and giving up 40 points to Florida and Bama.
I just feel like Kirby can recruit but is not the level of coach I thought.
Don't get me started on QB development, which is non exsistant.
Worst part is, and again this is how I feel, its getting worse year-over-year.
How do you guys feel?

Also I feel like this will ding our recruiting if not this year, in the future.

This isn’t going to be popular on this board, but I am of the opinion that GA talent is pretty overrated due to excessive media coverage of HS football and recruiting in the state. Smart has also hinted at this. They read too much of their own press clippings at the very least.
Our top rated GA signees haven’t lived up to their billing for the most part, at least not at the same clip as the out of state guys.

well I want to agree with you what about all the other talent that comes out of the state of Georgia and goes to other schools that does get developed? Also a lot of our talent comes from out of state now which is also not getting the development I feel like

Put me in the column of Kirby being the best developer of defensive players in the country. I think your take is retarded.

The 4 of the 6 signees not enrolled at UGA have made an immense impact. Myles Murphy has 3.5 sacks, we saw Will Anderson firsthand, Tank Bigsby looks like the SEC FOTY, Arik has 22 catches and 2 TD's.

What? So NFL buys into the "excessive media coverage?"
Its kind of their job to get the talent right.
More players from Georgia were taken in the 2017 NFL draft than any other state and last year Georgia produced 21 players drafted (3 in the first rd BTW) Florida produced just one more and CA just 2 more
GA #1 per capita NFL players
ETA:the article is about Georgia players on NFL rosters (not drafted) although we had the most drafted per capita as well
Your "take" isn't popular because it's retarded.

I’m not saying there isn’t a lot of talent in GA. There obviously is.
I’m saying that the very highest rated players, the pool who Georgia is mostly recruiting, are not as good as we, and they, think they are. The top rated players that have gone to Alabama, Tennessee, Clemson, etc haven’t worked out at a super high clip either.

I tend to agree but we are also overrated because too often our highly recruited players aren't on the field for us for a variety of reasons not the least of which have been devastating injuries.

Nolan Smith...Quay Walker....Tindall...Campbell
All 4 of those guys are solid football players.
Dom Sanders
JR Reed
Deandre Baker
David Marshall
Tae Crowder
Jordan Davis
Eric Stokes
All of these guys were 3 stars or lower.
Tae Crowder is the absolute definition of "talent development." A 2 star RB out of high school is now a starting LB in the NFL.

None if those guys have made impact in a big games....did you guys watch the florida game....how many times did we cover the rb out of the backfield or get to the qb? The answer is little to none
When we okay equally skilled offenses we do not look like the best defense in college football not even close. Good defenses don't give up 40 points to anybody must less two different teams in the same year

Even with giving up a ton of points we still have one of the best defenses in the nation. Offenses are just a step ahead of everyone right now.
And I would counter your argument with players like Stokes, Rice, Davis on this years team. Those players are all exceeding their expectations. You can also throw in players like Dominic Sanders, Baker, and hell, even Tae Crowder who went from a two star running back to getting drafting in the NFL.
I still think we're a competent qb away right now. We need long sustained drives to rest the defense and we didn't get those in the second half against Bama or the first half against UF.

I usually just hit reply to last comment when I'm on my phone....with that point made would you say the dev has been good and these players taken to the next level

Those specific players. Not so much. But there are other examples out that that shows that they are developing players to a high level.

Would help the defense out a ton if the offense could keep them off the field here and there

Lost to Bama because we are behind Bama in the qb and wr department.
Lost to uf because of we lost some extremely important people on D and stetson got hurt. D held them to 6 in the second half and webb dropped a pick 6. Game was really close and our o hurt our d.
