Interesting article from last year:
Doug Meacham (and Sonny Cumbie) discuss TCU's Spread Offense.

What kind of quarterback is the best fit for this kind of offense?
SC: I think the main thing, is how much mental twitch do they have? How do they process it? If they’re 6-foot and can run and they can process it and they know where we’re going pre-snap or if they’re 6-5 and they can’t run. I couldn’t run a lick. Cody Hodges was after me, and he could run and he had a lot of success. So there’s been a bunch of different guys in this offense. Chris Hatcher [at Valdosta State] is one of the best quarterbacks in this offense ever and he wasn’t very tall. The main thing is, mentally, how do they handle it. If we have a guy who can run with it, great. That’s awesome. If we don’t, then we don’t. But we want a guy who can process it mentally and get the ball where it needs to be quickly and accurately, most importantly.
DM: How you teach it, how you coach it. The terminology and the simplicity of it. We don’t have a playbook.

On the plus side, we have guys in place who would be great fits in a spread offense (Godwin, Michel, McKenzie). Hopefully he still keeps a power running game if he's the guy.
On the down side, Eason will probably be at Michigan if we hire a spread guy.

Why is UM still being thrown around? 99.9% chance it is us or Florida

Eason plays in a spread. Is everyone really this dense?

Other than Monteg. Anyone else hearing Meacham in play? I've heard it from a few people today
Really? Frankly this would be my choice. Especially if we don't get Eason. As someone said, I think we are built better right now for that. Without elite talent, or at least great talent on the LOS and at QB, our offense really isn't built to succeed. I believe the spread plays better to it.

I just worry because from everything I have heard from online and people who work in the industry he doesn't call the plays. Brohm does.
Also, I think it is worth nothing, towards the end of this season we were playing a lot more spread than when we started. Schotty pretty much had to adjust. During the Murray era Georgia was far more of a spread team. Really, outside of the beginning of this year and Hutson's year we really weren't as much under center, FB led, pro style. It made sense too. We had the RB talent, OL, and our QBs were game managers at best.
At our pinnacle we were under center with one back and maybe a TE (often times split out), or in the gun. Of course, we had better WRs then too. There was also that Season and a half where we ran the pistol and that was so nice.
So all of that was incoherent rambling but I guess the main point I am making is that outside of UGA pretty much having no choice we haven't been as much like Arkansas but more like a TCU, WKU. Not to say we were identical but we would identify with them more than we would Arky sans 2014. 2015 we identify more with a potato.

He and his dad have repeatedly said they want him to play in a pro style offense since it produces better NFL QBs.

No. His dad said if we ran a paul Johnson offense jake wouldn't come.

That was when asked a different question - specifically if Jacob was still coming to UGA if Richt was gone.
At this point, it seems like they would allow some spread elements since he has been committed to UGA for so long, but a full blown spread that favors guys like Trevone Boykin would probably really test that allegiance.

@RadiNabulsi: Looks like those comments about Kirby Smart potentially staying with Alabama through the playoffs are being walked back. Good news for #UGA?
Do the right thing Kirby...

He gone. From Alabama. After the game today.
That weepy press conference performance by Saban speaking of Kirby in the past tense making a little more sense now.

Strange. JC just said Muschamp will be named tomorrow. His contract was holding him back.
