“They just got hot. They got in rhythm. It wasn’t like we went conservative, we didn’t call different calls, we didn’t bend but don’t break. They hit some plays. They hit tempo, I thought Bo got a little more confident. We had a couple of busts, and when you combine those things, guys get hot. It wasn’t like they didn’t move the ball earlier, because they moved the ball earlier. We just got some really big stops. We didn’t have really big stops on those later drive; we didn’t get them behind the sticks. They did a good job of personneling (sic); Gus did a good job of searching until he found something. We didn’t have enough answers to what they were doing, where earlier in the game we did. We kind of didn’t have enough answers when we needed them the most, but I will say this, we went out there the last time and came up with some big stops."

Sometimes the other team just plays better.

Still wasn’t enough though!

He told a lie. We all saw what happened. Ga went away from the man to man to a soft zone, and au scored two quick tds.

We went back to the man to man, and game over.

I think that Auburn's coaches might be dumber than ours but it easy to see that our weak link has nothing to do with players.

To be honest, the second TD was against man coverage and he was wide open.

The defense cant be in 1 thing or they will get toasted. We have to change this up to keep the OC/QB guessing

The second TD was Nix on a keeper

“Next time we’re in that situation — up a couple of touchdowns — we need to step on their throat and not let them come back,” Rice said.

Please do.

bullshite. We gave up 13 catches to Seth Williams. 13. Had it not been for Auburn making terrible throws on 4th down we lose that game.

I was listening to Howard/Zeier on radio. Zeier commented on it too. He questioned why Kirby was would go to a prevent type defense with 12 minutes left in the fourth. You could tell he didn't understand it.

There was no doubt our defense did "back off" on that one drive to "keep everything in front of them". To me this changed momentum and gave Auburn some life.

Kirby needs to cut out the bullshat spin when talking to the media. He needs to take ownership of his decisions. It doesn't look good when nothing is his fault and it is all on the players.

“Haha Vegas has us at -3 easy money”

Randomly switches what we’re doing to make it a 7 point game.

“What in the frick was a favor called in???”

We never once went to a prevent type defense in the game.

Zeier did say "we have backed off to keep everything in front". To me...that is a type of prevent. We are keeping them from trying to score on a big single play.

Sorry I don't know the technical definitions like you do. Thank you for your precise understanding.

Love Kirby but the 4th quarter defensive play calling was deplorable, especially on Auburn’s first scoring drive.

Is describing it as a 'soft zone' more amenable to you?

No matter what you call it, we gave Nix, an awful QB, easy throws to get himself into a rhythm and reason for the crowd to get back into the game.

It was irresponsible play calling and nearly cost us the game. As Gary noted, the defense lost their rhythm due to these changes. We have a defense absolutely STACKED with top talent and the coaches told them to back off instead of trusting them (despite having given up 0 points in the game and only 25ish yards of total offense in the 3Q).

We've seen this too many times in big games and it really bothers me that Kirby, who I really do like as a coach, refuses to admit that he took his foot off the pedal.

Naw, we played soft. Cushion got bigger and we did not bring any extra pressure in what was sometimes a true three man front.
